The World’s biggest superstar Lionel Messi, has arrived in India, and fans have gone berserk to see their favourite star. Argentina’s very own Messi landed in Kolkata on Friday, December 12 and on Saturday addressed the public.

Lionel Messi went to the Salt Lake stadium and acknowledged the fans, who turned out in numbers to see the global superstar. The premier footballer will now be heading to Hyderabad to meet Telangana chief minister and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.

Following this, he will be heading to Mumbai and will participate in the Padel Cup at the Cricket Club of India. After that, there will be a Celebrity football match, and then he will move to Wankhede Stadium, and a charity fashion show will follow it.

On December 15, Lionel Messi will head to New Delhi, where he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Then, after that, there will be an event at one of the best cricket stadiums in the world, Arun Jaitley Stadium, including the felicitation of Minerva Academy players, before heading back home.

With Lionel Messi set to go to Mumbai and Delhi, a common question among the fans is Will Virat Kohli meet Messi, or will Sachin Tendulkar meet Messi? However, there is no clarity about the same, as there is no official confirmation about the same.

Virat Kohli has landed in India for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. He will be there in Bengaluru to play for Delhi. But he stays in Mumbai, where Sachin Tendulkar is also. Hence, there are chances that the global icons might meet up.

In August 2025, there were reports in the Indian Express, which claimed that Lionel Messi would play a seven-a-side exhibition cricket match on December 14 at the Wankhede Stadium. Also, some of the best cricketers in India, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rohit Sharma will join the event.

Messi will be at Wankhede Stadium on December 14. He is likely to play a cricket match, too, with former and current cricketers. The organisers will come up with a complete schedule once everything is finalised,” a MCA source told The Indian Express.

The reports had claimed that the event management company would organise the match in collaboration with the Mumbai Cricket Association. However, there is no clarity as of yet if logistics are being done or not.

However, even though they won’t meet, Messi India tour is expected to be highly successful. In Mumbai and Delhi, fans are highly crazy about him, and it remains to be seen how the tour pans out.
