Nuzhat Parween Early Life, Family, Religion, and Caste:
Nuzhat Masih Parween was born on September 5, 1996, in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh in a Muslim family. Nuzhat Parween’s father Masih Alam works in Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) while her mother Nasima Begum is a housewife. Nuzhat is the third of five children in her house, before her are her elder brother Aamir Sohail, and elder sister Nemat Parween while she has two younger siblings Aasiyah Parween and Ayan Ashraf Sohail.
Nuzhat was an athlete since her childhood days. She was a gold medallist in 100m in State Athletics while she also was keenly involved in football leading her state’s U16 football team in a national tournament. She first joined a professional cricket team in 2011 when she was selected to be a part of Singrauli’s district team where she played as a keeper-batter.

Little did she know that within a year, in 2012, she would meet her idol and the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket team, Mithali Raj and after meeting her she decided to completely focus herself on cricket. It paid rich dividends for her as she broke the door of the Indian National team very soon, in 2016.

Knowing that Nuzhat would need exposure in order to grow in her cricketing career, her family decided to admit her to a well-known private school. Despite missing numerous classes due to her practices but Nuzhat still scored 91.8% marks in class 12 for which she believes her school and the various coaching classes she joined before her board exams should be thanked a lot.

Nuzhat Parween started off her cricketing career in 2011 playing for the Singrauli district team where she was invited to be a part of the team as the team did not have enough players to make an 11. Nuzhat was a national football player at the time and she impressed the officials with her wicket-keeping abilities and was soon made a part of the Madhya Pradesh U-19 Women’s Cricket Team.
A year later, her impressive performances saw her earn the vice-captain’s tag in the Central Zone U-19 Women’s Cricket Team. Also, she was elevated to the senior side of the Madhya Pradesh Women’s Cricket Team and was also made the captain.
After captaining Madhya Pradesh for four years from behind the wickets, Nuzhat broke into the national team in 2016 when she was called up to play in the T20 series against West Indies Women. A few months later, in May 2017, Nuzhat got a place in the ODI team as well and got to play an ODI against Ireland Women which is till date the only 50-over game she has played for India. Subsequently, she was also picked for the Women’s ODI World Cup in 2017 which was held in England. She could not make the playing-11 through the tournament and was a substitute to the regular keeper Sushma Verma but the team’s victory against Australia Women powered by the famous Harmanpreet Kaur knock of 171 remains her favorite memory.

She has been a prolific performer at the domestic level, her most recent performance in the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy 2024 Semi-finals for Railway was a hundred against Bengal Women where Nuzhat played at the number 3 spot. In the past as well, Nuzhat scored a 74-run knock against Bengal Women in the semi-finals of the same tournament in 2018. Her most memorable tournament is the 2019 edition of the Women’s Senior T20 where she emerged as the third-highest scorer of the tournament with 282 runs in 6 innings including 4 not-outs and was pivotal to Railways winning the title.
She did receive a call-up back to the national side once more and her last appearance for the Indian Women’s Team was in March 2021 against South Africa Women in a T20I.
