The Amritsar Soormas are among the six teams taking part in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League, representing the historic city of Amritsar in Punjab’s franchise-based T20 tournament. The franchise is co-owned by Dr Shahbaz Singh, Director of Amandeep Group of Hospitals, along with Ajay Kwatra.

On the cricketing front, the Soormas have assembled a strong squad featuring one of the best T20 batsmen in the world, Abhishek Sharma, as their marquee player, with Punjab talents Mayank Markande and Naman Dhir adding to the squad. Naman Dhir emerged as one of their key purchases at the 2026 auction after being signed for ₹10.80 lakh.

Dr Singh has a background in the healthcare industry and is associated with the Amandeep Group of Hospitals. The franchise also has Ajay Kwatra as a co-owner, with the team itself confirming his role through its official social media channels.

Amritsar Soormas Head Coach

Sandeep Sawal will guide the Amritsar Soormas as their head coach in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League. He is familiar with the Punjab cricket system, having earlier served on the Punjab senior men’s coaching staff as a fielding coach. Sawal has also been involved in various training and preparation camps organised for Punjab players.

Assistant Coach

Manish Sharma will serve as the assistant coach of the Amritsar Soormas in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League. A former Punjab cricketer, Sharma has strong links with Amritsar cricket and has experience both as a player and in the administration of the game. He was part of India’s 2000 Under-19 World Cup-winning squad and later represented Punjab at the senior level in first-class and List A cricket.

After his playing career, Sharma remained involved in the sport through his work in the PCA’s selection setup, where he was associated with identifying and selecting players across different age groups.
