Tony Bloom, the Chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion football club, has landed himself in trouble. A new lawsuit has been filed against him by Ryan Dudfield, his former associate, who has accused him of owing a substantial sum of money, reportedly around $250 million.

A new High Court document has been added to the case, which claims that George Cottrell, one of Nigel Farage's close associates, is a key person responsible for the syndicate involving the Brighton owner Tony Bloom. A 19-page document was filed against Bloom in the High Court on the issue.

In the document, it was claimed that Cottrell wasn't a successful gambler and had a history of losing a lot of money. “Cottrell was not a particularly successful gambler and frequently lost large sums of money. Mr Cottrell had given control of his betting accounts to Tony Bloom and the Syndicate so that it was not necessary for bets to be sent to Mr Cottrell for him to place,” the document alleged.

As per the document, there was an agreement between Tony Bloom & Cottrell that the latter would get a share of 33% for any sort of wins. It's being claimed that betting in Football was placed either through Stake.com or via cryptocurrency. “The syndicate would cease to place its bets via gambling platforms in which Mr Cottrell had a financial interest, such as Tether.bet,” the document added.

Dudfield has put forth the demand to get $17.5 million due to the 7% of all profits earned by the Brighton owner through shares, as per the agreement he had with his former partners. The document, however, stated that the total winnings of the Syndicate were unknown.

The Document Claims Mr Cottrell was Aware of the Syndicate Using his Betting Accounts

The statement also noted that the claimant was informed that the usage of Mr Cottrell's betting accounts had ceased. It was further added that both McAleavy and Cottrell knew about the Syndicate making use of the latter's accounts and of the profits they had and could potentially be made if the bets were to be placed.

“The claimant was told … that the Syndicate’s use of Mr Cottrell’s betting accounts in football had ceased. In fact, Mr McAleavy and Mr Cottrell both knew that the Syndicate was continuing to make use of Mr Cottrell’s betting accounts, and they both knew that very significant profits had/could be made as a result of the bets that had been placed and were to be placed,” the document alleged.
