Carlo Ancelotti Tax Fraud: Why Brazil Head Coach Sentenced to Prison?

Brazil National Football Team Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti has been penalised for tax fraud. The former Real Madrid manager, who recently took over the charge of the Selecao, has reportedly been sentenced to one year in prison, while also being slapped with a hefty fine of 386,000 euros. Ancelotti has been charged with fraud against the Spanish Treasury for the 2014 tax year, before doing the same in 2015. The veteran tactician has been punished under Section 30 of the Madrid Provincial Court. Ancelotti is also not allowed to receive public aid or subsidies and must refrain from receiving tax or social security benefits or incentives for three years, as per media reports.

When Carlo Ancelotti Trial Held?

Carlo Ancelotti, at the time of the trial, held in the first week of April, claimed that he never intended to break the tax rules and only abided by the instructions of the club and his financial advisor. Despite his clarification, the prosecution asked for a sentence of four years and nine months in prison and a fine of €3.1 million, with the tax fraud amounting to over one million euros.

What Carlo Ancelotti Said About Tax Fraud Case?

Responding to the accusation regarding image rights, Carlo Ancelotti said, “Coaches aren’t that important,” before acknowledging that he never gave much thought to his image rights. “The only thing that mattered to me was earning six million euros net. I wanted six million net, and at the end of the season, I had six million net,” the Italian manager revealed in his statement.
