Cole Palmer Misses Out on Chelsea Squad Once Again

Here are the words from Maresca on the English midfielder Cole Palmer. The Blues boss mentioned that Cole Palmer has been deliberately left out of the Chelsea vs Cardiff squad, as he is yet to regain full fitness.

I’ve already said many times in plenty of press conferences that we have a number of players that need to be protected. The target is to protect them and manage them. Cole is one of the players who deserves to be protected right now. In this moment, he’s not available to play two games in three days. So he won’t be available for tomorrow’s game, but should be fine for the weekend.

The Italian further said that his players need protection in such a tight schedule, where his team has to play three games in a week. This hectic schedule has worn out a lot of players, like Cole Palmer, who remains an important asset of Enzo Maresca-led Chelsea.

As things stand, Cole Palmer will not be taking part in the Chelsea vs Cardiff Carabao Cup match. Maresca does not want another Cole Palmer injury at the business end of the season and wants to have his star man available at optimum fitness levels. Palmer is expected to return to the starting XI against Newcastle on Saturday.
