FA WSL Reveal Fixtures for 2025/26 Season

The Women's Super League (WSL) Football has confirmed the fixtures for the 2025-26 Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) and Barclays Women’s Super League 2 (BWSL2) season. The season will kick off on the weekend of 5th, 6th, and 7th September. Both the BWSL and BWSL2 will commence on the same weekend and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, the BBC, or YouTube. The BWSL champions, Chelsea, will start their season at home against Manchester City. UEFA Women’s Champions League holders Arsenal will commence their campaign against the newly promoted London City Lionesses. Additionally, there will be a Merseyside derby as Liverpool faces local rivals Everton at home. Other matches include Brighton & Hove Albion facing Aston Villa, and Manchester United playing against Leicester City. Tottenham Hotspur will begin their season with another London derby against West Ham United. This unique season features the promotion of three clubs from the BWSL2 to expand the BWSL to 14 teams for the 2026-27 season. This includes a play-off between the bottom club in the BWSL and the third-placed club in the BWSL2, making the second tier more competitive. FA announces WSL fixtures

BWSL2 runners-up Birmingham City will begin their season at home against Bristol City, while Crystal Palace will visit Charlton for a South London derby. Newly promoted Nottingham Forest will host Newcastle United, and Portsmouth will take on Durham at home. Sheffield United will face Sunderland, and Ipswich Town will play away at Southampton for their first-ever game in the BWSL2. The play-off match between the bottom club in the BWSL and the third-placed team in the BWSL2 will be confirmed in due course. It is scheduled to take place over the weekend of May 22-25 and will be broadcast on both Sky Sports and the BBC. The schedule for the UEFA Women’s Champions League and UEFA Women’s Europa Cup has not yet been announced. Therefore, for Round 5 at the start of October, matches involving Arsenal, Chelsea, and/or Manchester United have been scheduled for Friday or Saturday. This is to ensure that there is a minimum of two clear days’ rest before any potential European fixtures. To promote player welfare, this principle will be applied to any club's continued participation in a UEFA competition beyond October, meaning that league fixtures may be subject to change.
