Real Madrid star Federico Valverde is set to miss the upcoming November FIFA International break for Uruguay due to a thigh injury, which he suffered during a goalless draw with Rayo Vallencano in La Liga on Sunday. The Uruguayan International was in motion at the right side of defence as a right back for his club, in the absence of first-choice Dani Carvajal.

However, the Los Blancos skipper was seemingly holding his thighs during the match, and was subsequently taken off in the 83rd minute of the game by Xabi Alonso. Real Madrid confirmed the news to fans on their website, releasing an official statement: “Following tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh. His recovery will be assessed.”

Consequently, the 27-year-old is expected to miss the national team call-up after suffering the latest setback and will be staying at Valdebebas for further assessment and recovery under the watch of the club's medical staff. Federico Valverde injury is a massive blow not only to La Celeste but also to Los Blancos. The versatile player was deployed at the full-back position following the injury of Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
