Indonesia Squad For AFF Championship Revealed: Full List of Selected Players

Indonesia head coach John Herdman has officially announced the Indonesia squad for AFF Championship, naming 23 players for a preparatory training camp ahead of the 2026 ASEAN Championship. The camp will take place from May 26 to May 30, with the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) confirming that the squad will undergo intensive training sessions and internal matches before the final tournament roster is selected.

The selection reflects Herdman's continued assessment of players competing in Indonesia's domestic leagues, while only one overseas-based footballer has been included. The 2026 ASEAN Championship, formerly known as the AFF Cup, is not part of the FIFA international match calendar, making it difficult for clubs abroad to release their players.

Marselino Ferdinan, who currently plays for Slovakian club AS Trencin, is the only foreign-based player named in the provisional squad. The rest of the Indonesia national football team players come from clubs competing in Liga 1 and other domestic competitions.

Speaking through the official PSSI website, Herdman explained that the coaching staff had closely monitored players throughout the domestic season before finalizing the squad. "As the head coach and coaching staff, we have witnessed many matches this season and gained an understanding of the potential of domestic players," Herdman said.

He also stressed that the training camp will play a crucial role in determining the final squad. "This is an important moment for the players to demonstrate their quality and secure a place in the AFF Cup squad," he added.

Players who impress during the camp could also receive opportunities with the Indonesia national football team during FIFA Matchday fixtures scheduled for June. Indonesia has been drawn into Group A of the 2026 ASEAN Championship alongside Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, and the winner of the qualification playoff between Brunei Darussalam and Timor-Leste. The tournament will run from July 24 to August 26.
