Will Kylian Mbappe start for Real Madrid against Atletico in the Champions League?

Defending UEFA Champions League champions Real Madrid will make their way to the opposite side of the Spanish capital to compete against their longtime rivals Atletico Madrid in the second leg. Los Blancos achieved a 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga. The first leg saw Real Madrid secure a 2-1 triumph at home, giving them a slight edge going into the return leg.

Rodrygo started the scoring for the home team just four minutes into the match before Argentine World Champion Julian Alvarez came to Atletico’s aid once more. Alvarez equalized the game with a banger, but Real Madrid had different intentions. Brahim Diaz’s goal early in the second half ensured that the defending champions entered the second leg with a one-goal lead.

Kylian Mbappe misses training

Mbappe was absent for the majority of Real Madrid’s training session on Tuesday in preparation for their Spanish derby match against Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie because of muscle discomfort, according to club sources.

Mbappe remained within the club’s facilities and engaged in individual workouts, and club officials stated he participated with the team during the last 30 minutes of training, affirming that his availability for Wednesday’s derby was not under threat.

Will Mbappe start for Real Madrid against Atletico in the Champions League?

Mbappe’s fitness has been a significant uncertainty since he missed their Spanish Cup match against Real Sociedad two weeks ago following a tooth extraction. Since that time, he has delivered uninspired performances in three straight matches, netting only one goal while being substituted in two of those contests. That being said, Mbappe has a ridiculous Champions League record and will play in the big game.
