The English giants, Manchester United, have announced their plans to construct a new monumental stadium and leave their iconic den, the Old Trafford. It has been their home ground for more than 100 years, since 1910. And, over the years, the Red Devils have built an unmatched legacy while playing at ‘The Theatre of Dreams’.
Manchester United Plans to Leave Old Trafford For ‘state-of-the-art’ Stadium

Throughout its existence, numerous legendary players have graced the turf of Old Trafford, from classic figures such as Sir Matt Busby, Sir Bobby Charlton, George to modern day greats like Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney & Cristiano Ronaldo and more.
In the recent developments, Manchester United have decided to relocate to an upcoming visionary stadium in the next five years. They have chosen the path of fellow Premier League rivals Everton, who are set to move their newly inaugurated stadium Bramley-Moor Docks.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe voiced his thoughts over the announcement, stating, “Today marks the start of an incredibly exciting journey to the delivery of what will be the world’s greatest football stadium, at the centre of a regenerated Old Trafford.”
“Our current stadium has served us brilliantly for the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the best arenas in world sport.”
He added, “By building next to the existing site, we will be able to preserve the essence of Old Trafford, while creating a truly state-of-the-art stadium that transforms the fan experience only footsteps from our historic home.”
The Red Devil’s home is the largest football stadium in the United Kingdom, however, it falls behind in terms of modernity and innovations as compared to modern marvels like Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Santiago Bernabeu of Real Madrid.
The Upcoming proposed stadium will be built on the same site in Manchester with the extended capacity of 100,000 and is reported to cost around £2 billion. The current capacity of their stadium is 76,000. However, with time, Old Trafford has lost its charm and requires a plan of action to preserve its heritage and legacy.
Sir Alex Ferguson spoke out on Old Trafford Plans
The legendary former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has lauded the presented plans of the club to construct an advanced stadium to carry on their inheritance of being one of the best football stadiums following the deterioration of Old Trafford.

The Scottish manager enjoyed remarkable success during his regime at Manchester United from 1986 to 2013. Ferguson steered them to lift a staggering 38 trophies in 27 years at Old Trafford and secured his position as the manager with most trophies in history.
“Manchester United should always strive for the best in everything it does, on and off the pitch, and that includes the stadium we play in,” SAF said, “Old Trafford holds so many memories for me but we must be brave and seize this opportunity to build a new home, fit for the future, where history can be made.”
