OGC Nice Players Attacked: Moffi, Boga & Sporting Director Assaulted by Supporters

French football is yet again in chaos as Ligue 1 side OGC Nice has found itself at the center of controversy for an alleged fan attack. Nice, currently 10th in the Ligue 1 standings, are on a poor run of six defeats and have been criticised for their poor performance. However, that criticism is reaching another level with star players Terem Moffi, Jeremie Boga and Florian Maurice reportedly injured in a violent incident outside the club’s training facility in Nice. According to a regional radio station in France, Ici Azur, around 400 Nice fans gathered outside the club’s training ground after Nice’s first team returned from Lorient late on Sunday evening (Nov 30). As the team were on their way out, fans started protesting as the action quickly turned violent. Nice players were attacked by the fans in response to the poor form of the team. The OGC Nice players attacked have now raised a substantial threat to the security of the league.

Fans chanted “Move you ar*es” in response to the poor form while the Nice players were attacked in the chaos. It is also claimed that there was an OGC Nice security breach, which is the primary reason for the easy flow of fans to attack the players. What Happened vs Lorient?

Currently sitting 10th in the Ligue 1 standings, OGC Nice are enduring a tough run both domestically and in Europe. The 3-1 defeat to Lorient is the latest chapter of the brawl, where the side was leading 1-0 at one stage. Nice took an early lead after Arthur Avom scored an own goal. However, the home side recovered well to score to win the match with two clear goals.

First, Laurent Abergel scored the equalizing goal in the 31st minute before Sambou Soumano scored to give Lorient a crucial lead in the second minute of added time. Soumano scored again in the 53rd minute to ensure all three points for the home side.

The defeat all but puts pressure on the team management, who will be desperate for a change in fortune. Last week, Nice were humiliated at home as they lost 5-1 to Marseille, while losing to Porto in midweek in the Europa League. The club is next in action against Angers on Sunday (Dec 7), while they close the European campaign in 2025 with a home game against Portuguese outfit SC Braga.
