PSG Creates History, Set to End 2025 on a High Note

PSG completed the sextuple on 17th December, 2025, with a fascinating win against Brazilian side Flamengo in the finals of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. They were made to work hard against a resolute Flamengo team, but eventually the Les Parisiens prevailed. This is their sixth trophy of the year, and they have now joined an elite list with this win.

After winning the Ligue 1, the two domestic French Cup titles, and then the UEFA Champions League, followed by the UEFA Super Cup, Paris Saint-Germain, under the Spanish manager Luis Enrique, won the Intercontinental Cup. The Spaniard has completely turned the team around after one of their star men, Kylian Mbappe, left for Real Madrid. Enrique and co. are now set to end 2025 on a high note.

The PSG vs Flamengo match in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup was the last chance for PSG to secure a sextuple after losing to Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this year. However, they have the best manager in the world in the dugout, who didn't let the heads drop as he kept his team motivated for a record that only a few could boast of. With this win over Flamengo on penalties (2-1), PSG completes sextuple & has now become the third team to have a sextuple. They have joined FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich as the only three teams to have achieved this feat.

FC Barcelona were the first team to do it in 2009, while Bayern did it in 2020. This achievement from the 13-time Ligue 1 champions PSG will surely be etched in the memories of their passionate fanbase for a long time. The team, once with all the star-studded players, failed at some of the biggest stages. Now, it stands high and tall with a good mixture of experienced and young players whose energy bar is set quite high at all times.

How did the FIFA Intercontinental Final Go?

PSG started the game well with a goal from Georgian international Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 38th minute. Flamengo managed to pull it back from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute as Jorginho calmly slotted it past Safonov. However, it was Safonov who emerged as the hero in the penalty shootout.

Vitinha converted his first kick while Ousmane Dembele, the best footballer in the world right now, missed. Safonov stepped up to make some crucial saves to change the momentum towards arguably the best club in the world currently. Nuno Mendes then put PSG in front once again, and Safonov made another save to add another title to the PSG trophies list.
