A rift has developed between Man United and Morocco over one of their key players, Noussair Mazraoui. The Red Devils are said to be unhappy with the Morocco Football Federation for not letting Mazraoui feature in the game against Bournemouth over the weekend, which they eventually drew 4-4.

FIFA directed every club to release the players at least one week before each nation's first game in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is starting from December 15. Morocco kick off their season against Comoros on 21st December, meaning that Noussair Mazraoui would have been eligible to play against Bournemouth, but this fixture was moved to Monday and coincided with FIFA's release period.

According to reports, United expected to have the Moroccan back on time, but their initial request was turned down by the Moroccan national football team. They took the matter to the FIFA office, but the governing body eventually supported Morocco by mentioning that the release period had already started by then.

However, United were able to reach an agreement with Mbeumo & Diallo's national teams, and they both ended up playing against the Cherries. In the case of Mazraoui, the Red Devils are frustrated with FIFA's decision to side with Morocco since other AFCON-bound players across Premier League clubs were able to play that same weekend.
