USMNT Announce Squad Ahead of CONCACAF Nations League

USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino has announced the 23-man squad as the USA national team is set to face Panama in a semi-final clash in the CONCACAF Nations League. The USMNT have lifted the CONCACAF Nations League title consecutively in the last three years and will aim to do so for a fourth time as well. Of the 23-man squad, 16 of them have at least participated in one CNL final.

The squad also includes six players who made it to the 2024 CNL Best XI who are namely Gio Reyna (Best Player Honour), Matt Turner, Christian Pulisic, Weston Mckennie, Tyler Adams and Antonee Robinson. Seven players namely Patrick Agyemang, Brian White, Diego Luna, Cameron Carters-Vickers, Patrick Schulte, and Tanner Tessmann will take part in their first USMNT camp in a semi-final of an official competition.

The USA’s national team and Panama’s national team have faced each other 29 times in their history, only one less than Mexico. This implies that they have quite some history between them as well. Panama have won thrice in their last five meetings over five years. If USA are to advance, they will face the winner of Mexico vs Canada in the finals which is yet another difficult match.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Official Statement

“This is a massive opportunity to win a trophy and that is our clear objective,” USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino said. “We must continue to show our quality, our bravery and our commitment to each other. We have an important moment to represent our country and our supporters, and we are very excited for this opportunity.”
