In this FIFA international break, Nepal are set to host Bangladesh in two International friendlies at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu. The first of the two matches will kick off later today in the capital city of Nepal. Both the South Asian sides won't be taking these preparation friendlies lightly as they train for the upcoming AFC Asian Qualification – third round fixtures in October.

As things stand, the hosts are placed at the bottom of the table in their Asian qualifiers Group F with no points in the first two matches.
Meanwhile, the visitors are third in the Group C table, having a single point in their campaign. Both sides have faced each other numerous times, and Nepal and Bangladesh's head-to-heads always promise to be a close encounter.
The Dasharath Stadium will be hosting Nepal's senior men's national team game after a two-year break due to a ban imposed by the AFC. The restriction, however, is still in place as it lacks criteria to host FIFA and AFC matches. The visitors have had a couple of overseas players at their disposal, but the most prominent name for the Bengal tigers is Leicester City midfielder Hamza Chaudhary.
The English-born midfielder has starred for Bangladesh ever since making his international debut in March 2025, playing a pivotal role in the midfield, bringing immense experience and quality to his side. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old has suffered an injury during his recent outing for the Foxes in the EFL Championship. The Bangladesh head coach, Javier Cabrera, confirmed his absence from the 23-member squad for the games against SAFF rivals, stating:
“We are not concerned with which player is in the team … without Hamza, honestly, we have played well with the same core players since the SAFF Championship in 2023. Our focus is on how we are going to prepare ahead of the matches against Hong Kong in October”.
In addition to Hamza, the away side will be without three of their prominent overseas names – Shamit Shome, Fahamedul Islam, and Cuba Mitchell. Despite without any club football in Nepal and a lack of game fitness, head coach Matt Ross will have a full squad at his disposal with several new call-ups in this game against Bangladesh.
