Kevin De Bruyne, at 34, still remains a pivotal figure in the Premier League, and remains a cult figure for Man City fans. After a decade of brilliance, the Belgian midfielder has confirmed his departure from the club, leaving fans heartbroken yet eager to see what’s next for the playmaker. In a candid interview with The Athletic, De Bruyne expressed doubts about playing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, citing injury concerns and frustration with FIFA’s scheduling.

De Bruyne stated, “It doesn’t make any sense, but I think that happens when you push in new tournaments in the middle of this contract situation." The Belgian looked concerned about his future too and mentioned that free agents have to take care of themselves because no one will sign a player if they pick up an injury before joining a new club. He further stated that it's a big chance that he won't play but in the end he'll have to see and discuss with the club, leaving fans hoping. According to some media outlets, the midfield maestro has offers on the table from Saudi Arabia and MLS, while Kevin De Bruyne has wished to stay in Europe.

Kevin De Bruyne has scored around 100+ goals, and his assists are almost double, nearly 200. For Manchester City, who want to win a global tournament, not having one of their best players on the field will have a huge impact, and City have to adapt to a new playstyle as soon as possible to increase their chances of winning the FIFA Club World Cup. Manchester City currently sits in 3rd position on the Premier League points table and have secured a UEFA Champions League spot for the next season.

De Bruyne's exit has Pep scratching his head, as it was clearly evident what De Bruyne's absence can do to a champion team. City is currently looking for his replacement, and the Spanish coach's famous quote, “We can not replace him.”, which was actually intended for Sergio Aguero, also fits perfectly with Kevin De Bruyne's situation.
