Ben Doak's footballing career began at local club Dalry Rovers, after which he joined Ayr United and then Celtic's academy. His rapid progression led to him making his debut for the Celtics' senior team at the age of 16. Liverpool then noticed his abilities and potential and signed him in 2022. Initially, the youngster struggled to get game time but did play for the U-18, U-21 sides, and got 10 appearances for the senior team. Liverpool have now loaned him to Middlesbrough for the 2024-2025 season, where he is doing well in the Championship.
As for his international career, Doak had already represented Scotland's U-16 after which he was called up for the U-17 side. Doak was then called up for the U21 squad in 2022 despite being just 16 years old. He made his debut for them as a substitute against Northern Ireland in September 2022 and scored within seven minutes. This made him the youngest player ever to score for Scotland's U21 side. Doak finally received his ultimate goal, which was long overdue for him. He also received a call-up for Scotland's senior team as part of their provisional squad for the UEFA Euros 2024.
Ben has won the Scottish Premiership with Celtic in the 2021-2022 season in which he made two senior appearances. He then won his second title with Liverpool which was the English League Cup in the 2023-2024 season. Doak made an appearance for them in the third round match against Leicester City. Although, Doak did not appear in the finals, he is eligible to receive the winners medal due to his participation in the earlier stages.
Individually, Doak was longlisted in 2023 for BBC Young Personality Of The Year. He won his first individual award which was the EFL Young Player Of The Month in November 2024 for Middlesborough for his ecstatic performances and five assists in that month.
