If you are an Indian football fan, it is very unlikely that you haven't heard about Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. The tall, lanky keeper has been a staple for the Indian national football team since 2011. Sandhu represents Bengaluru FC at the club level. He signed a contract extension with the Karnataka-based club and will be staying on till 2028.
The goalkeeper has seen his fair share of success over the course of his career. For Bengaluru FC alone, he has won the ISL in the 2018-19 season, the Hero Super Cup, and the Durand Cup. Sandhu's presence between the posts has been very reassuring for the club, as he has a good track record of keeping clean sheets.
One of India's old guards in front of the post, Gurpreet, is a regular figure marking his territory under the post. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu began his professional career signing for the Kolkata giants East Bengal in 2010. He did not get many opportunities that season and was eventually loaned out to Pailan Arrows for one season before returning to East Bengal in the 2011-2012 season. In 2014, following a successful spell at East Bengal, the Punjab native made his way to Norway. He joined Stabaek and, in doing so, became the first Indian to play for a top European league. He spent three years at the club before making his way to Bengaluru FC in 2017.
