Pronay Halder career started playing for Pailan Arrows in 2011. From there, he joined Dempo SC to play in the I-League on loan. The player later transferred to FC Goa on loan, even before he joined the ATK Mohun Bagan for the first time. He moved to Mumbai City FC from ATK on loan later. After the loan ended and he was back, he rejoined FC Goa, then went back to ATK Mohun Bagan, then was loaned to Jamshedpur FC. When his loan ended, he returned to Mohun Bagan SG and joined Jamshedpur FC. His contract expired in May 2025, and he is a free agent now.

After leaving his first club, Dempo SC, was his second club, he later played for big ISL clubs like FC Goa and Mumbai City in his career. Mohun Bagan was a huge part of his club career. He has played for Jamshedpur FC, when he was loaned from Mohun Bagan, and he permanently joined the team in 2023. Jamshedpur FC won the ISL Regular Season in 2022, when Pronay was on the team. ATK winning the Indian Super League Championship in 2020, and ATK Mohun Bagan FC winning it in 2023, and Mohun Bagan winning the Indian Federation Cup in 2016, in these also Halder's contribution was strong.
The footballer made his international debut in 2015 against Nepal at the age of 22. He made a total of 24 appearances at his senior level for the team. The player has also represented his nation in youth games like the Under-19 and Under-23. Pronay was part of the team that won the 2015 South Asian Championship and the 2018 Intercontinental Cup. He last represented the Indian team in 2022.
