Ryan's career began at BFC Bussum, after which he joined Almere City's youth academy in 2014 and spent eight years there. He then left Almere City and joined Sassuolo for a short stint, and then joined Vitesse on loan in July 2022. He played well at Vitesse and then joined FC Utrecht in August 2023 again as a loanee. Finally, PSV signed him in 2024, securing a five-year contract, and he is currently a key player for the team, playing a pivotal role in their Eredivisie title win this season. He is yet to receive a call-up for the Netherlands national team but has represented their U21 side.
Ryan's professional career began with Sassuolo in Italy, where he played in their youth setup. He then gained first-team experience while on loan at Vitesse in 2022 and subsequently at FC Utrecht in 2023. He made his Eredivisie debut for Vitesse in August 2022 as a substitute in a 5-2 loss against Feyenoord. It was at Vitesse where he demonstrated his versatility as a defender and a midfielder. He scored his first professional goal playing as a midfielder against RKC Waalwijk in August 2022 in the league. Ryan then joined FC Utrecht in 2023 on a loan move and just a year later, PSV swooped in to sign him in August 2024. Ryan signed a five-year contract with PSV Eindhoven and scored his first UEFA Champions League goal against Girona in a 4-0 win. Further, he scored another goal in the UCL knockout phase play-offs fixture against Juventus in which he scored in extra time to make the score 3-1 to send PSV to the Round of 16. Ryan has played a pivotal role in PSV's impressive clinching of the Eredivisie title from Ajax and also made it to the Eredivisie Team Of The Month on a few occasions.
Ryan is yet to make his debut for the Netherlands national team but has represented their U21 side.
