  • Brazil vs Colombia is set to take place on 21st March at the Estadio Club De Regatas Vasco Da Gama stadium in the CONMBEOL World Cup Qualifiers.
  • Unique fact between Brazil and Colombia is that up until November 2023, Colombia had never won against Brazil in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
  • Tournament: World Cup Qualifiers
  • Date: 21st March, 2025
  • Kick-Off Time: 12:45 AM GMT
  • Venue: Estadio Club De Regatas Vasco Da Gama

Brazil is set to face Colombia in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers on 21st March at Estadio Club De Regatas Vasco Da Gama as both teams look to recover from their disappointing performances in the November window. Brazil is in fifth position with only 18 points out of a possible 36 points. They have won five matches, drawn three and lost four matches signifying their poor form recently. Brazil have not lost to Colombia in a home fixture since 2014 which includes 14 matches between them. Although Brazil's side has changed tremendously over the years, they will still look to maintain that record. This is a very crucial fixture for Selecao since they will face Argentina next week meanwhile Paraguay and Bolivia are just one and four points below them. Brazil's run of form in the previous five games has been average with them winning two matches, drawing two and losing one.

Colombia just like Brazil endured a poor run of form in the November window and is looking to capitalize from this match as they want to qualify comfortably. Los Cafeteros are in fourth place in the table with 19 points out of a possible 36. They have won five matches, drawn four and lost three as they now look to gain more advantage and a gap in the table over their opponents Brazil. Colombia were comfortable in second place but a poor run of form in their recent games namely losing to Bolivia, Uruguay and Ecuador has cost them way too much than expected. Colombia have won two games and lost three games in their last five matches.

Selecao manager Dorival Jr called up Neymar Jr after a 17-month lay-off as Brazil needs a star player to rely on, especially in crucial matches unfortunately injury got the better of him once again. Endrick has been called up to replace him who is a great talent and a prolific striker. Lucas Paqueta and Igor Jesus are surprise exclusions from the squad whereas Lucas Moura and Oscar were not called up as well. Eder Militao, Danilo, Bremer, Richarlison, and Ederson Moraes are all sidelined because of injuries. Despite so many injuries, Brazil manager Dorival Jr still has many quality players to use due to Brazil's squad depth.

Los Cafeteros do not have any team news as such with a majority of the squad in proper health. James Rodriguez is expected to make a return to the squad and captain them as well. Despite Luis Diaz and Jhon Duran not performing recently at their respective clubs, they are still needed for the national team. Luis Diaz is still the star player for Colombia as he is going through a poor run of form but still is one of the best players in the world. Moreover, it was Luis Diaz who gave Colombia their first-ever win against Brazil in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers back in November 2023 when he scored a brace.

Barcelona's Raphinha was doing decent under Xavi but fans felt it was quite underwhelming and he was not good enough. However, under new manager Hansi Flick, Raphinha has improved drastically drawing comparisons to Neymar Jr in some matches because of his stellar performances. Raphinha has amassed 27 goals and 20 assists in 42 games in the 2024-2025 season for FC Barcelona across all competitions.

Luis Diaz (Colombia)

The shifty winger has a lot of flair and agility often displaying skills that a Brazilian would do. Although Luis Diaz has had a poor run of form recently at Liverpool, it still does not change the fact that he is a great player and arguably Colombia's best chance at getting a much-needed victory against Brazil. Diaz has managed to score 13 goals and has six assists in 42 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions in the 2024-2025 season which is still quite good.

Brazil vs Colombia Prediction

Although Brazil is not the football team they used to be, their raw talent is still one of the best in the world. Brazil does have some of the most in-form attackers namely Raphinha, Vinicus Jr, and Rodyrgo at their disposal and that will be too much for Colombia to handle. Furthermore, despite Brazil dropping points in the November window, they have gained eight points from their last four matches and will look to establish a consistent run as they beat an out-of-form Colombia.

Prediction: Brazil 3-1 Colombia
