Emiliano Martínez - 6.5: A strange day for the Argentine. He made four saves, including a couple of really sharp stops to deny Habib Diarra and Enzo Le Fée late on. However, conceding three goals is never a good look for a top keeper. He couldn't do much about the goals themselves, to be fair. His distribution from the back was a bit hit-and-miss, with possession lost 18 times.

Defenders

Matty Cash - 6.0: A quiet game for Cash. He was defensively sound for most of the match but was caught out a couple of times as Sunderland poured forward. He didn't offer the usual threat going forward that we've come to expect. Just an average day at the office for him, really.

Ezri Konsa - 6.0: Konsa was solid for about 85 minutes, winning all his duels and maintaining an incredible 98% pass accuracy. But then the late collapse happened. The entire defence seemed to lose its composure, and he was part of that collective failure. It's a shame because he was having a good game until then.

Tyrone Mings - 6.5: A towering presence as always, winning five of his six duels and making six crucial clearances. He even had a shot on target from a set-piece. What stood out to us was his leadership for most of the game. But like the rest of the backline, he was overwhelmed by Sunderland's late, desperate surge.

Ian Maatsen - 7.0: He was electric going forward in the first half. He provided a brilliant assist for Ollie Watkins' second goal and was a constant outlet on the left. Defensively, he was a little suspect, and it wasn't a surprise to see him substituted as Villa looked to tighten up. A good attacking performance though.

Midfielders

Ross Barkley - 6.0: We honestly expected more from Barkley today. He struggled to get into the game and impose his will on the midfield. He had one shot saved but was dispossessed three times and looked a bit off the pace. An uncharacteristically quiet performance.

Youri Tielemans - 7.0: A very composed and tidy performance from the Belgian. He kept things ticking over in the middle of the park with 96% pass accuracy. He wasn't spectacular, but he provided control and stability for his team. A solid, professional job.

Amadou Onana - 6.5: A frustrating afternoon for Onana. He was so unlucky to see his header crash against the bar in the first half. He was a physical force, but his decision-making was questionable at times. He did his job breaking up play, but we felt he could have offered more.

Morgan Rogers - 8.0: What a performance from this man. He took his goal with supreme confidence just after halftime, a crucial moment in the match. He was a livewire throughout, completing dribbles and constantly looking to create. A very exciting display that suggests he has a big future.

Forwards

Ollie Watkins - 9.0: Without a shadow of a doubt, the man of the match. Two brilliantly taken goals and an assist. His movement off the ball was simply too much for the Sunderland defence to handle. He was clinical, hard-working, and the clear difference-maker. The highest-rated player on the pitch, and deservedly so.

Substitutes

Lucas Digne - 7.0: Came on for Ian Maatsen and made the single most important contribution of the match. His cross for the winning goal was perfect. A game-changing substitution.

Tammy Abraham - 7.5: The hero. To come on late and have the composure to be in the right place at the right time to poke home a 93rd-minute winner is incredible. What a moment for him against his former loan club.

Jadon Sancho - 6.5: He looked lively and eager to make an impact after coming on. He didn't have a decisive moment like the other substitutes but helped keep the pressure on.

Manager

U. Emery Etxegoien - 7.0: For 85 minutes, his game plan was working to perfection. His team dominated and looked set for a comfortable win. The late defensive collapse will be a massive concern for him. However, his substitutions were inspired and ultimately won his side the three points. You have to give him credit for that bold move.

Goalkeeper

Robin Roefs - 5.0: A really tough day for the young keeper. Conceding four goals is never easy to take, and he was at fault for one with an error leading to a shot. He did make three saves, but he looked shaky. It's a steep learning curve in the Premier League.

Defenders

Luke O'Nien - 6.0: The warrior battled hard as you'd expect. He won all five of his duels and made a team-high five clearances. He tried to hold the defence together. But being part of a backline that concedes four goals means it's hard to rate him any higher.

Omar Alderete - 5.5: Had a torrid time trying to contain the brilliant Ollie Watkins. He struggled with the striker's pace and movement before being forced off with an injury. A difficult and painful afternoon for the centre-back.

Reinildo Mandava - 4.5: A disastrous performance. An error leading to a goal is a cardinal sin for a defender, and it put his team under immense pressure. He looked completely out of his depth and was rightfully substituted. From our perspective, he was the worst performer on the pitch.

R. Le Bris - 6.5: His team was outplayed and looked beaten at 3-1 down. The decision to go for it late on paid off spectacularly, with his substitutes turning the game on its head. It was heartbreaking for them to lose it at the death. He can be proud of the fight his team showed, but the defensive frailties were there for all to see.
