Barcelona 3-1 Alaves Player Ratings: Dani Olmo Leads La Liga Comeback With A Brace

Barcelona were keen to bounce back after their heavy defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League. The Catalan outfit, however, made a disastrous start against Deportivo Alaves, who took an early lead in the La Liga fixture at the renovated Camp Nou. Pablo Ibanez scored the opener for Alaves just one minute into the game. Barcelona came back brilliantly in the first half, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha leading the attack.

Yamal took a few minutes to bring the equaliser. Barca kept on invading the Alaves defence and created some promising chances. The comeback was finally completed in the 26th minute, when Dani Olmo pulled off a spectacular finish, converting a pass from Raphinha. Yamal hit the post once before the interval, while Alaves were unable to turn the tables. The Barcelona vs Deportivo Alaves game remained 2-1 after the first 45 minutes.

FC Barcelona started the second half more dominantly as Hansi Flick made a few chances before the resumption of the game. Barca’s star boy Pedri, who missed a few games due to injury concerns, returned as a substitute at the hour mark, replacing Raphinha. Barcelona had some good opportunities to increase the lead, but Deportivo Alaves stood tall in the defence.

The visitors dominated the proceedings in the dying moments and kept the Barcelona defence quite busy. Joan Garcia also made some impressive saves. The defending La Liga champions finally had the all-important third goal in the stoppage time, with Dani Olmo completing his brace.
