What a rollercoaster at the Allianz Arena. We came expecting a routine win for FC Bayern München. Instead we got an absolute thriller. FSV Mainz 05 came to play, and they nearly pulled off a massive upset in this Bundesliga clash. The 2-2 draw felt more like a win for the visitors and a loss for the hosts.

Goalkeeper

Manuel Neuer - 6.0: A frustrating day for the captain. He conceded two goals but was left exposed for both. He had a good high claim and his distribution was solid as ever with 93% accuracy. What stood out to us was his lack of saves, but that was because Mainz's goals were well-placed. Just one of those days where he couldn't be the hero.

Defenders

Min-jae Kim - 6.5: A very solid performance before being substituted. He was dominant in the air, winning almost all of his aerial duels. His passing was crisp and accurate, helping build from the back. We noticed he was rarely troubled one-on-one. He was taken off as Bayern chased the game, a tactical switch not a reflection of his play.

Hiroki Ito - 6.5: Similar to his defensive partner, Ito was very comfortable in possession. A 95% pass accuracy tells its own story. He made several important clearances and looked assured. From our perspective he was a reliable presence until he was subbed off after an hour. A decent showing.

Josip Stanisic - 7.0: Played the full game and was a consistent performer. He was heavily involved with 118 touches and was a key part of Bayern's build-up play. He was solid defensively, winning most of his duels and making some crucial recoveries. He even created a chance, showing his value at both ends of the pitch.

Midfielders

Joshua Kimmich - 8.5: An absolute masterclass in midfield. He was the conductor of the orchestra with an incredible 175 touches and 151 accurate passes. He created three chances including two massive ones. Everything positive for Bayern flowed through him. It's a shame his teammates couldn't convert the chances he laid on a plate. He was easily Bayern's best player.

Serge Gnabry - 7.0: A really mixed bag from Gnabry. He provided the assist for the opening goal, which was a great moment. However, what stood out to us was his wastefulness, as he missed two big chances. He had seven shots but only three were on target. His performance was full of energy but lacked the clinical edge required.

Leon Goretzka - 6.5: A tidy if unspectacular hour from Goretzka. He kept the ball moving with high pass accuracy and was physically present. He just didn't impose himself on the game in the way Kimmich did. He did his job quietly before being substituted. A solid but forgettable performance.

Michael Olise - 8.0: What a livewire. Alongside Kimmich, he was Bayern's most dangerous creative force. He created a staggering five chances, including two big ones. His dribbling caused constant problems for the Mainz defence. We were really impressed with his directness and desire to make things happen. A brilliant performance that deserved a better team result.

Lennart Karl - 7.5: A fantastic contribution from the midfielder. He showed great composure to score Bayern's opening goal from close range. He didn't stop there, creating two chances for his teammates, one of them a big one. It was a very bright and encouraging display full of attacking intent.

Tom Bischof - 6.0: He was neat and tidy in possession but largely a passenger. He didn't offer much in an attacking sense and was subbed after an hour. The game seemed to pass him by a little bit. It felt like he was playing it too safe against a team that needed to be unlocked.

Substitutes

Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Nicolas Jackson: The subs were brought on to inject energy and find a winner. Laimer picked up a yellow card for his troubles. Jackson had a couple of missed chances after coming on. They contributed to the late pressure but couldn't find the decisive touch from open play to win the match.

V. Kompany - 6.5: His team completely dominated the ball and created enough chances to win two games. However, the defensive lapses for both Mainz goals will be a huge concern. He denied Kane and Gnabry time and time again with stunning stops. Without him, Mainz would have lost by a wide margin. An unforgettable goalkeeping display.

Defenders

Stefan Bell - 7.5: A true captain's display. He was a rock at the back making crucial clearances and tackles. What stood out was his assist for the second goal, a great contribution from a defender. He led by example and organized his defence brilliantly under immense pressure. A fantastic leader's performance.

Danny da Costa - 6.0: A difficult afternoon for him. He made an impressive seven clearances but struggled against Bayern's wingers. He picked up a yellow card and looked stretched at times. He worked hard but it was a tough assignment for him today.

Nikolas Veratschnig - 6.0: He was in the thick of the action all game. He made four interceptions and a number of tackles which was impressive. However, he also committed three fouls and lost possession frequently. It was a chaotic and busy performance, full of effort but lacking composure.

Sota Kawasaki - 6.5: Was having a very effective game before his injury. He was a ball-winning machine, making five tackles and two interceptions in his hour on the pitch. It was a huge blow for Mainz when he had to be substituted. A very promising display cut short.

Kacper Potulski - 7.0: A game of hero and villain. He scored a fantastic header to bring his team level, a brilliant moment. He also made a staggering 10 clearances. But then he gave away the late penalty that cost his team the win. The goal and his defensive work just about outweigh the costly error.

Jae-sung Lee - 8.0: An outstanding performance full of grit and quality. He scored what looked to be the winning goal with a superb header. His work rate was immense, making three interceptions and winning his tackles. He was a constant nuisance and delivered a decisive moment of quality. Superb.

William Bøving - 7.5: A very effective and creative outing. He provided a pinpoint cross for the first goal assist. He also created another big chance and worked tirelessly for his team. His defensive contribution was also notable. A complete performance from the midfielder.

Lennard Maloney - 6.0: He had a couple of shots but failed to trouble Neuer. He put in a shift defensively but, like Sano, found it difficult to get a foothold in the game. He never stopped running but was fighting a losing battle in the midfield.

Forwards

Benedict Hollerbach - 5.5: A thankless task for the lone striker. He was completely isolated for most of the match. He fought for every ball but lost possession 16 times and failed to register a single shot. From our perspective, he was starved of service and couldn't influence the game at all.
