Benfica vs Bayern Munich Player Ratings
  • Andreas Schjelderup's early goal had the job done for Benfica.
  • Bayern Munich failed to score in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup for the first time.
  • Antonio Silva was the Man of the Match for his gritty performance.

Benfica produced a sturdy performance to secure a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in their final 2025 FIFA Club World Cup group game at the Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, on Tuesday, 24 June 2025. A solitary Andreas Schjelderup goal was enough to give the Portuguese giants all three points.

Benfica started taking the fight to a heavily rotated Bayern team in the early stages of the game. Their early pressure paid off in the 13th minute, as a well-worked move saw the ball fall to winger Andreas Schjelderup inside the box, allowing him to power the ball into the back of the net. Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane both missed huge chances towards the end of the first half, summing up a dismal half for Bayern.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany made a string of changes at the break to bring on the regulars. The Bundesliga side had their share of chances in the second half, with Leroy Sane wasting a few big chances. Joshua Kimmich seemingly scored a beautiful goal in the 61st minute, but it was called out because of Harry Kane's offside disrupting it.

Despite throwing the kitchen sink at the Benfica box, Bayern Munich's players were just not clinical enough. The Portuguese side ground their way to get a win and top Group C, with Bayern finishing as the runners-up.

Here are the Benfica vs Bayern Munich Player Ratings.
