Bournemouth 1-1 Man City Player Ratings: Rodri 8.0/10 Can't Prevent Kroupi Stunner as Bournemouth Draw Hands Arsenal the Premier League Title

8 min
Bournemouth vs Man City Player Ratings

What a dramatic finish at the Vitality Stadium! Manchester City looked destined for a frustrating defeat on the south coast. They were trailing for most of the match. But then, Erling Haaland did what he does best.

He popped up deep into stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw. From our perspective, AFC Bournemouth will be absolutely gutted. They put in a monumental effort and led from the 39th minute. The goal came from the impressive Eli Kroupi.

The Cherries defended with their lives, frustrating a star-studded City side. The visitors dominated the ball, as you'd expect. Yet they struggled to create clear-cut chances for large periods of this Premier League encounter. Rodri was a force of nature, even hitting the woodwork twice in his attempt to drag his team back into the game, but Bournemouth held firm until the very end. Here are Sportsdunia's Bournemouth vs Man City player ratings.

Man City Player Ratings vs Bournemouth

Check out the Man City player ratings vs Bournemouth.

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma - 6.5: Had very little chance with Kroupi's well-taken goal. He made a couple of decent saves when called upon, particularly one from Semenyo in the first half. His distribution was tidy enough, but it was a relatively quiet evening for the big Italian until the goal went in. He commanded his area okay but wasn't a game-changer.

Defenders

Marc Guéhi - 6.5: A mixed performance from Guéhi. He was generally solid in his positioning and made some important interceptions. However, he lost more duels than he won and looked a bit unsettled at times by Bournemouth's quick forwards. He wasn't at fault for the goal, but we expected a little more dominance from him.

Matheus Nunes - 7.0: Playing in a deeper role, Nunes was one of City's better performers. We noticed his powerful runs from deep, completing four successful dribbles to try and break the lines. He was strong in the duel, winning seven of them, and recovered the ball well. A very energetic and positive display from the Portuguese international.

Nico O'Reilly - 7.0: A really commendable performance from the youngster. He didn't look out of place at all, showing great composure on the ball. He won most of his aerial battles and even forced a save with a good header. What stood out to us was his willingness to get forward and contribute to attacks, a very mature showing.

Abdukodir Khusanov - 6.5: A steady, if unspectacular, outing. He kept his passing simple and accurate, recycling possession effectively. Defensively, he was solid enough, making a few key tackles and interceptions. He didn't offer a huge amount going forward but did his defensive duties without any major errors. A decent shift.

Midfielders

Mateo Kovacic - 6.0: It was a surprisingly quiet game for Kovacic. He was neat on the ball, as always, but he failed to impose himself on the match. From our perspective, he played it too safe before being substituted early in the second half. We needed more drive and creativity from him in a game where City were struggling to break down the opposition.

Jérémy Doku - 6.5: A frustrating evening for the Belgian winger. He looked like City's most likely source of a spark in the first half, always willing to take on his man. However, his final product was often lacking and he lost possession far too many times. He had a shot saved but was eventually taken off as Guardiola sought a different approach.

Rodri - 8.5: The best player on the pitch by a country mile. He was absolutely everywhere for Manchester City. He dominated the midfield, won nine duels, and recovered the ball eight times. He was desperate to make something happen, hitting the woodwork twice with powerful strikes. A colossal performance and our Man of the Match.

Bernardo Silva - 6.0: Like Kovacic, it just wasn't his day. The captain for the day was tidy in possession but couldn't find those killer passes he's renowned for. He was largely anonymous before being substituted alongside Kovacic. A disappointing outing by his incredibly high standards.

Antoine Semenyo - 6.5: Deployed in a more central attacking midfield role, Semenyo was industrious. He worked hard and made some good runs, forcing a save from Donnarumma. However, his influence waned and he was another who was substituted as City chased the game. An okay performance but lacked a decisive touch.

Forwards

Erling Haaland - 8.0: For 94 minutes, this was a 5/10 performance. He was a ghost, isolated and barely involved with just 23 touches. But then, in the 95th minute, he did what only he can do. He found space in the box and clinically finished to rescue a point. That's why he's the best, a game-changing moment out of absolutely nothing.

Substitutes

Phil Foden - 7.0: Came on and immediately added more zip and purpose to City's attack.

Mathis Ryan Cherki - 6.5: Looked lively but couldn't find the final ball.

Omar Marmoush - 6.0: Had a shot blocked but didn't have a huge impact.

Manager

Josep Guardiola - 6.5: His initial setup struggled to break down a resolute Bournemouth. The double substitution on 56 minutes was needed and did change the game's momentum. Ultimately, his team lacked their usual cutting edge but found a way to not lose. He'll be relieved rather than happy.

AFC Bournemouth Player Ratings vs Man City

Here are the Bournemouth player ratings vs Man City.

Goalkeeper

Djordje Petrovic - 7.0: He can't be blamed for Haaland's late, clinical finish. Before that, he was excellent, making three important saves to keep his side ahead. He commanded his box well and was a calming presence. A strong performance that deserved a clean sheet.

Defenders

Adrien Truffert - 7.5: A fantastic performance from the left-back. He provided a brilliant assist for Kroupi's goal with a great run and pass. Defensively, he was solid, making a number of tackles and reading the game well. The late yellow card was the only small blot on an otherwise excellent copybook.

Marcos Senesi - 6.0: A really tough night for the centre-back. While he made an impressive seven clearances, he was dribbled past four times. He struggled with the movement of City's attackers. It felt like he was constantly firefighting, and it was a difficult battle for him throughout the 90 minutes.

Adam Smith - 5.0: The captain had a very difficult evening. He was given a torrid time by Doku in the first half, being dribbled past three times. He won only two of his nine duels, a really tough statistic. He battled hard, as he always does, but from our perspective, he was a clear weak link in the backline.

James Hill - 6.0: He put his body on the line with five clearances and a blocked shot. However, he struggled in the air, losing four of his six aerial duels. He was booked in the second half for a clumsy challenge. A whole-hearted display but one that lacked a bit of quality against elite opposition.

Midfielders

Alex Scott - 7.0: A very mature performance in the middle of the park. What stood out to us was his incredible reading of the game, making ten ball recoveries. He kept the ball moving and was a disruptive force against City's rhythm. He also made five clearances, showing his defensive commitment.

Tyler Adams - 6.5: A typically combative display from the American. He flew into tackles, winning the ball back well on several occasions. However, he was a bit rash at times, earning a yellow card. He provided a solid screen for his defence but didn't offer a huge amount in possession.

Marcus Tavernier - 7.5: He was a constant creative threat for Bournemouth. He created three chances, including two big chances, and was always looking to make things happen. His energy was infectious, and he tracked back diligently to help his defence. A superb all-round midfield performance.

Eli Kroupi - 8.0: What a moment for the young attacker. He took his goal with supreme confidence, a brilliant finish to put his team ahead. He was a menace throughout his time on the pitch, with his clever movement and direct running. A performance full of promise and end product that almost won the game for his team.

Rayan - 7.0: So unlucky not to score. His shot that cannoned off the post would have sealed the game for Bournemouth. He worked tirelessly on the flank, though he was sometimes wasteful in possession. His energy and threat were key to Bournemouth's game plan.

Forwards

Evanilson - 7.5: A real warrior's performance up front. He was a nightmare for the City defenders, winning six duels and holding the ball up brilliantly. He worked his socks off for the team, making tackles and clearances. He'll be disappointed to have missed a big chance, but his overall contribution was immense.

Substitutes

Justin Kluivert - 6.0: Brought on to add fresh legs but picked up a late yellow card.

David Brooks - 6.5: Looked sharp and was desperately unlucky to hit the post late on.

Lewis Cook - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Enes Unal - N/A: A late cameo to see out the game.

Manager

A. Iraola - 8.0: His game plan was almost perfect. His team was organised, resilient, and dangerous on the counter-attack. They frustrated a world-class team and were seconds away from a historic victory. He will be heartbroken with the result but immensely proud of his players' performance.
