Como 0–2 Inter Milan Player Ratings: Inter’s Title Winning Hopes Shattered Even After a Fascinating Win

It's the title deciding day in the Serie A as the second-placed Inter face off against the tenth-placed Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia for the ultimate final matchday. Inter are currently placed second, just below Napoli, with one point separating the two sides. For this reason, winning was not just an option for Milan, but rather the only choice, as any result other than could harm their title hopes, as that would lead to gifting away the title to Napoli. Inter were definitely under a bit more pressure before the match, as the odds to win the tournament were slightly higher for Napoli.
However, the players were seen as relaxed and comfortable, indicating confidence within themselves. Inter came onto the pitch with a clear idea: give their all on the pitch, get the win, and hope that Napoli had a bad result.
Inter got the ball rolling and they were seen keeping possession, and they kept passing the ball within their half, trying to build up. This led to the Como players aggressively pressing, which created some chances for them. But Sommer stood as an obstacle for them and saved all the balls that came on target. Later on, Inter initiated some attacks, and this time at the other end, Pepe stood solid.
Minutes later, Inter won a corner, and this finally beat the keeper and marked itself in the scoresheet. Inter were with the steering wheel as in the other game, where Napoli was playing, remained in deadlock, and this meant that Inter were provisionally placed first. However, this did not make them comfortable with themselves, and they continued to attack.
In the 42nd minute, out of nowhere, the stadium roared. There was a swing in the moods of the Inter bench, and this led to a conclusion that Napoli had scored, which took away the first position that Inter was enjoying for about twenty minutes.
Around this fuss, Inter players found space and made a through ball targeting inside the box. The keeper who came out to clear the ball accidentally made contact with the player, which led to him getting a straight red card, marking a horrible end to his career.
In the second half, Inter scored the second with the services of Correa, but by then, Lukaku had scored the second for Napoli. By then, it was almost certain that Napoli would be the champions of Italy. This somewhere took down the hunger of Inter, and they were seen playing with lesser intent, as no matter what the result of the match was going to be, Napoli would be the champions. From then the game was relatively dominated by midfield and both teams occasionally came into attack. At full time, though Inter won, their aspirations and goals were not achieved, as those were snatched away by Napoli.
Here are the Como vs Inter Milan Player Ratings.
Como Player Ratings vs Inter Milan

GK - Pepe Reina - 4/10
He was solid in the first half. Blocked some attempts made by Inter from the right to keep the deadlock. Did not have much of a role to play when the opponents scored. Even after that, he was there to block multiple attempts made by the opponents. Had a disappointing end as he was shown a straight red card by the referee for a foul made outside the box on the very day he decided to tie his gloves and bid adieu to the game. Had a nightmare ending to his glittery career.
LB - Alex Valle - 6/10
He was good in the back. Won some free kicks in the defensive half, made some interceptions, and clearances. However, the player would be under some disappointment as one block made by him led to a corner, which was, however, scored by the opponents.
CB - Ivan Smolčić - 6/10
Nearly opened the account for his team as he made an unexpected run from the left to take a first-time shot, which was, however, saved by the opponent keeper after some struggle.
CB - Ignace Van der Brempt - 6/10
Made a good run on the right side of the goal to take a shot in the initial minutes, which could have been a potential goal. This marked the first shot on target of the match. Apart from that, he had minimal contributions.
RB - Mërgim Vojvoda - 6/10
Was okay in the backline. Was unable to cover the opponents and prevent them from attacking from the wings. Though the player tried his best, he found it hard to stop Zalewski.
LM - Lucas Da Cunha - 7.2/10
He was the best player for Como. He was seen everywhere on the pitch, and the player gave everything for his team even when they were losing. Made multiple long balls, out of which most of them were accurate. Won many duels, had good passing accuracy and had a great individual performance. However, this did not let his team win.
CM - Máximo Perrone - 6.8/10
Contributed to every aspect of the game, even though it was minimal. Had a few tackles, interceptions, clearances, dribbles, and so on. In essence, he was everywhere, but not every time.
RM - Maxence Caqueret - 6/10
Was average. The heatmap of the player depicts the player's inability to make moves in the attacks. He was seen here and there for some time with almost zero contributions. When the keeper was given a red, the player was forced to be subbed off.
LW - Gabriel Strefezza - 7/10
Did his best to contribute to his team, but it somehow felt like luck was not on his side. Whenever he got a good assist, he failed to finish, and whenever he provided a great assist, his teammates struggled to find the back of the net. Got booked by the referee for unnecessarily making an argument following the red card of his keeper. Was able to add some pressure on the opponents with some crosses and runs.
RW - Nico Paz- 6.5/10
Made some good moves and attempted to make shots, which, however, were overhit and ultimately went wide. Almost all the shots he made went flying above the goalpost. Though these did not trouble Inter, he managed to win multiple fouls, which certainly added pressure to the opponents, as a couple of them almost found the back of the net.
CF - Anastasios Douvikas - 6/10
Regained possession and won the ball in the initial minutes to provide a beautiful pass to Van der Brempt, which marked the first real attempt of his team. Apart from that attempt, he remained uncontributive less which cost his team.
Sub - Jean Butez - 6/10
Sub - Y. Engelhardt - 6/10
Sub - Patrick Cutrone - 6/10
Sub - Alessio Iovine - 6/10
Sub - J. Ikone - 6/10
Coach - Cesc Fabregas - 5/10
Shifted from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-2-1 when his keeper was sent off, and this possibly caused some problems for his players as it was difficult to adapt to the new formation, along with stopping the one-man extra Inter. Once the team was down to 10 men, he fumbled.

GK - Yann Sommer - 7.5/10
Held his hands to an early attempt made by Van der Brempt from the right. Was calm and did not panic under high-pressure situations. He was the first one to clear the ball when the opponents aggressively pressed in their attacking third.
CB - Yann Bisseck - 7/10
He was more right flank-centric throughout the match. Made some cameo appearances in the attack and attempted to make some dribbles. Made a couple of clearances and interceptions in the defensive half. Was involved in almost half a dozen duels, out of which he won more than half of them. Had a good passing accuracy of 93%. He was good in the defence. However, an injury sustained by the player led to him being subbed off.
CB - Stefan de Vrij - 8/10
Had a great passing accuracy. Properly communicated with his fellow teammates to defend the fortress. Though his backline left some gaps initially, he managed to regain composure and defend collectively. Had good positioning in the corner and connected the ball properly to shake the net and break the deadlock.
CB - Carlos Augusto - 7/10
Was good on the left flank and was seen relatively more defensively focused, and the player did not tend to take risks by moving higher up the field. Had a good role in preventing the opponents from attacking from the wings.

LM - Federico Dimarco - 6.5/10
Made some good crosses from the left wing to Darmian, which created some tension among the opponents. Pressed the opponents well, as a result of which he won the ball multiple times. With these recovered balls, he initiated counterattacks. Everything looked beautiful until it came to the final third.
CM - Kristjan Asllani - 6/10
He was one of the players with the most touches for his team. Had a decent or an average day in the office in comparison to his fellow teammates, who had an exceptional day. Was the source of most of the long balls made by Inter? Apart from this stat, the player did not have any exceptional records to display in the match.
CM - Hakan Çalhanoğlu - 7/10
Made a good pass to Augusto in the eighth minute, which could have caused some trouble to the opponents. Made a very bad foul just minutes later, which led to him being booked by the referee. Took a proper corner which went straight into the six-yard box and this was headed by Stefan, marking the opener. However, the gaffer, after a point, decided to play safe and called off the player to avoid the player from getting booked again and getting a red.
RM - Matteo Darmian - 6/10
Was active in the flanks. Attempted a shot from the right side of the six-yard box, which, to his dismay, was blocked. Laid the foundation for the first goal as his attempt went for a corner, which, when taken, found the back of the net. Rather than Dimarco, who made constant appearances in the attack, Darmian remained more or less in the defensive half, showing traits of a holding midfielder.
AM - Joaquín Correa - 7.5/10
He was stunning in the attacking third as he made some great dribbles and moves that surely created some confusion for the opponents. Won duels, made some accurate long balls, and had a good passing accuracy too. Scored the second goal for his team from the edge of the six-yard box to double the delight for his team. The only negative about the player was that he lost possession more than the acceptable deviations.
AM - Nicola Zalewski - 7/10
He was seen everywhere on the left flank of the attacking third. Made some crosses inside the box for the men in white. While some of it found his men, some went to no man's land or the opponents. Was key in winning duels in the first half. Won almost all of the duels he was involved in. Made a few tackles.
CF - Mehdi Taremi - 7.2/10
Was not having a very active role in the first half, apart from a couple of attempts made here and there. One such shot was made from the centre of the box in the final minutes of the first half, which was saved by the keeper. He played a pivotal role in the second goal as he provided an accurate pass to Correa on the left side of the goal, which was easily converted in the end.

Sub - F. Acerbi - 6/10
Sub - N. Barella - 6.5/10
Sub - Denzel Dumfries - 6/10
Sub - M. Arnautovic - 6/10
Sub - L. Topalovic - 6/10
Coach - Massimilliano Farris - 7/10
Did his part but luck did not favour him. Though he was able to get the result they expected from themselves, the external factors kept them away from the title and this led them being dethroned as the champions.
Sportsdunia's Player of the Match is Stefan de Vrij.
