England U21 took on Germany U21 in the final of the UEFA Euro U21 Championship on 28th June, 2025, at 9:00 PM (GMT), at the Tehelne Pole in Bratislava, Slovakia. England were coming off a win against Poland in the semifinals through a late winner from Harvey Elliot, whereas Germany had thrashed France 3-0 to set up a riveting contest in the finale of the youth tournament. Just minutes into the first half of added extra time, almost against the run of play, England took the lead once again through the substitute, Jonathan Rowe. Tyler Morton made up for his mistake of poorly marking Weiper for the first goal, as the English defender put in a delicious cross for Rowe, whose header was not the best one, but was enough to see the ball nestle into the back of the net in the 92nd minute. James Beadle - 6/10

Didn't have much to do in the first half; played well with the ball at his feet. Came out quickly to clear the lines after an unusual blunder at the back by the England national under-21 football team. Couldn't have done much in both the goals scored by Germany U21.

Defenders:

Tino Livramento - 7/10

The right back kept things tight defensively, giving little to no space to Paul Nebel to cause any form of danger. Livramento's delicious long ball to Hutchinson was instrumental in creating the first goal of the game for the England national under-21 football team.

Charlie Cresswell - 6/10

Cresswell held the defensive line well and came forward to put his feet in once or twice, and won quite several good duels in and around the penalty box. Made sure that Nelson Weiper wasn't allowed too much freedom in dangerous areas.

Jarell Amorin Quansah - 6/10

The centre back kept his calm and defended well against Nick Woltemade, making himself big to prevent the forward from getting ahead. Made quite a few good runs with the ball and was quite alert to dangerous German crosses.

Jack Hinshelwood - 6/10

Combined well with Omari Hutchinson once again on the left. Hinshelwood was solid defensively as he kept Brajan Gruda in check for most of the game.

Midfielders:

Harvey Elliot - 8/10

The Liverpool player was the star man once again, as he ran the show for England on the right-hand side. His quick turns and darting runs made it difficult for the German players to keep up with him. Scored the opening goal of the game with a precise finish and spotted the run of James McAtee with an incisive pass in the build-up to the second goal.

Alex Scott - 6/10

Held the ball well in the middle of the park and made space for himself to attack with swift turns, which left the German national under-21 football team midfielders to bite the dust. Picked up an unfortunate injury and was subbed out in the 44th minute.

James McAtee - 7/10

The skipper was quite lively throughout the game. McAtee's passing was on point, as he found his teammates in dangerous positions in and around the penalty area many a time. Could've had a goal to his name but saw his effort just flash wide of the far post.

Elliot Anderson - 7/10

Anderson was everywhere on the pitch - winning duels, making runs, and passing the ball around in tight spaces. Used his physicality well to ward off the German midfielders.

Omari Hutchinson - 7.5/10

Omari Hutchinson brought his bag of tricks to the game and made full use of it. Left Nmandi Collins scrambling at times, wreaking havoc on the left-hand side in turn. Doubled the lead for England with a vicious finish through Atubolu's legs.

Forward:

Jay Stansfield - 6/10

Dropped deep to help his midfielders and held the ball well, which allowed the wingers to make runs in behind the defence. Used his body well to keep the defenders at bay and played a pivotal role in England U21's second goal of the game.

Substitutes:

Tyler Morton - 7/10

Provided a lovely cross for Jonathan Rowe in the first half of added extra time which found the back of the net.

Lee Carsley - 7.5/10

Started the game well with his team seeing a lot of possession in the first half. Set up his team in a 4-5-1 formation with Elliot and Anderson playing in the pivot. His team pressed well and were lightning fast in transitions. The players seemed to take it a bit lightly in the second half, which allowed the Germany national under-21 football team to come back into the game. Made his reinforcements in time which proved to be frutiful in the context of the game.

Although he didn't have much to do in the first goal, he should have done better as Omari Hutchinson's effort went through his legs.

Defenders:

Nmandi Collins - 4.5/10

Had a tough time defending against Hutchinson, as the winger caused too many problems on the right flank with his burst in pace.

Tim Oermann - 6/10

Oermann was decent throughout the game, as he lunged in to block quite a few attempts on goal from the England U21 players.

Bright Arrey-Mbi - 5.5/10

Should have cleared his lines better, which resulted in the first goal. Overall, had a decent game at the heart of the defense as he thwarted several good crosses.

Nathaniel Brown - 6/10

Found it a bit hard at times to keep up with the quality of Harvey Elliot, but got the better of the Liverpool man at times.

Midfielders:

Brajan Gruda - 6/10

Brajan Gruda was quite lively on the field, twisting and turning his way through the English midfielders. Was majorly ineffective in the first half, but found his mojo back in the second and played quite a few good through balls down the middle.

Eric Martel - 5.5/10

Martel defended the tight spaces well, helping the German backline by dropping in between the two centre backs from time to time. Lacked discipline in the centre of the park, which earned him a yellow card.

Rocco Reitz - 6.5/10

Complemented Eric Martel well in the middle of the park, as he put in important tackles to break up numerous counter attacks from the England under-21 national football team. However, the German midfielder was kept in check by Anderson, who used his superior physicality to good use.

Paul Nebel - 8/10

Paul Nebel started slowly but gradually grew into the game with his slick passing and excellent positioning. Scored a beautiful goal in the second half past Beadle and two other English defenders, who had no chance but to see his shot nestle into the far top-right corner.

Forwards:

Nick Woltemade - 6/10

Pressed the English backline well and made quite a few good runs into the box. Woltemade was largely marked by Charlie Cresswell, who didn't let the German forward make much of an impact throughout the game.

Nelson Weiper - 7/10

Halved the deficit for Germany national under-21 football team with a powerful header from Nebel's cross. Timed his runs into the box and found himself in the danger areas.

Antonio Di Salvo - 7/10

Di Salvo played his trademark brand of football, with two strikers up front. His team was too direct at times in the first half, which was well read by the England U21 players. Made a few changes in the second half, but largely stuck to his proven tactics of putting in dangerous crosses. His team pressed well and put the crosses to good use as Weiper headed in to bring the energy back in the dugout. Tried his best to tweak his tactics and bring in timely reinforcements, but it wasn't enough to see off the game.
