A spirited performance from Iraq sees them close out a professional 2-1 win over Bolivia and qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in United States, Canada and Mexico. Goals from Ali Al Hamadi and Aymen Hussein led the way for the Lions of Mesopotamia against a bitterly disappointed Bolivia side, who will be heading home after treating fans to an entertaining game.

Iraq took an early lead through Ali Al Hamadi in the first half, as Amir Al Ammari delivered a lovely cross which was converted past Viscarra. Despite the early setback, Bolivia responded later in the half after Moises Paniagua's stunning goal from left side of the box nestled in the top right corner beyond Ahmed Basil Fadhil's reach.

But Iraq came out of the second half determined to turn things around and Aymen Hussein was the man for the big occasion as he converted from centre of the box courtesy of a delightful cross from Marko Farji to give Iraq the lead at Estadio BBVA in Mexico.

While Bolivia and head coach Oscar Villegas are going home empty handed, they put on a spirited performance and gave the assembled crowd a fascinating encounter and a good account of their credentials.
