The infamous Rose Derby was presented as a friendly, as Man United and Leeds United met in their respective penultimate pre-season games at Croke Park in Ireland. We saw that Manchester United were the better side in the first half, displaying a really exciting brand of football.

The Red Devils kept less possession than Leeds but always looked threatening with every final ball they played. Leeds United found it difficult to find a way to break between the lines and create chances, which seemed to frustrate them at times.

Manchester United were the first to score in the game in the 16th minute, as Bryan Mbuemo ran almost from the halfway line down the left wing following a fast break, before squaring it to Joshua Zirkzee, whose left-footed strike gave James Trafford no chance.

Leeds broke the shackles in the 29th minute, as Tyler Fletcher took too much time to take the ball in his stride and Daniel James was alert to pounce on it immediately. The Welsh drove into the box and played it to Brenden Aaronson, who took a touch and finished it at Senne Lammens' first post to equalize.

Man United took a couple of more shots, but Trafford did brilliantly to keep the score level until the first-half whistle.

The second half saw no change, as the Red Devils played their usual game, dominating Leeds for most of the match. The Peacocks took their chances on the counter, but were unable to find the back of the net.

One of the best midfielders in the Premier League currently, Bruno Fernandes thought he had scored the decisive goal with a superb finish in the 80th minute, but the linesman had his flag up for offside.
