Summary
After dominating the Kolkata Derby clash against Mohammedan, Mohun Bagan face off against BSF FT, who were trashed eight goals to one by Diamond Harbour FC, the recently promoted I-League side. Mohun Bagan vs BSF FT took us to Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, where the match took place on the 4th August 2025 at 7:00 pm, and after a brilliant display of actions, Mohun Bagan emerged victorious.
Mohun Bagan got the thing underway, and surprisingly, it was BSF who were seen attacking in the initial phase of play. The Mohun Bagan defence was seen a bit shaky against the Forces side. However, later, as expected, Mohun Bagan started to attack and from then on, it was basically a one-sided affair. The ISL side kept knocking on the doors of the opponents, and in the 26th minute, they were finally able to break open the door. Roshan Singh, who made a brilliant run from the left flank, provided a quality cross to Manvir Singh, who easily headed in the ball inside the goal, marking the first goal of the game. Later, though the home side made efforts to attack, the Forces side stood resilient and did not concede any more goals and at half-time, the score was 1-0 in favour of the Kolkata Giants.
In the second half, Liston Colaco was the attention winner. He dominated the opponents by making some solid runs on the flanks and scoring two goals in quick succession. Later, Sahal Abdul Samad registered his name in the scoresheet and at full time, it was Mohun Bagan who had the final laugh.

Here are the Mohun Bagan Player Ratings
Goalkeeper
Vishal Kaith - 6/10
Kaith, apart from some routine clearances and saves, did not have much to do in the match. Even though the opponents made some initiatives to attack, the lack of support meant that the keeper wasn't tested much.
Defenders
Roshan Singh - 6.5/10
The 18-year-old full-back was very active in the flanks and ventured deep into the attacking third occasionally. Provided some quality crosses inside the box and assisted the first goal. Was not burdened much in the back.
Dippendu Biswas - 6/10
Dippendu was having almost no workload in the match as the opponents made attacks in the rarest of situations. Was rooted in the defence, and this gave autonomy for his fellow teammates in the backline to move higher up the.
Tom Alderd - 6.5/10
Initially, Tom Aldred was a bit shaky in the defence, but later, since the opponents were unable to attack, he did not have much to worry about. Moved higher up the pitch and provided some carpet passes and long balls into the attacking half, putting pressure on the opponents. Was subbed off after the break.
Leewan Castanha - 6/10
Leewan was more or less not challenged in the defence. Made some runs into the final third and took his chance at goal, but none of them were the best of the attempts. Had a pretty impressive first start.

Midfielders
Abhishek Suryavanshi - 6.5/10
Provided some long passes into the attacking third, splitting off the defence and creating trouble for the opponents. Made some interceptions in the midfield and made some attempts to the attacks.
Liston Colaco - 8.5/10
Made some accelerated runs down the left flanks, put pressure on the opponents, made some good crosses, provided some key passes and had a good first half. In the second half, he made a beautiful run inside the box, broke the defence and found the bottom corner to double the lead.
Deepak Tangri - 6.5/10
Tangri made some unwanted errors in the defensive third, which could have turned dangerous. Later, he was playing solid, tracking back the balls, making interceptions and preventing the opponents from entering his side. Had an impressive performance in the midfield role in from of the defence.
Manvir Singh - 7/10
Manvir was desperate to register a goal and contribute to the team. In the 24th minute, he found the back of the net by heading a cross from Roshan from the left. Was dominant in the attack and was able to paralyse the opponents in the backline. Was subbed off after the first half, probably as a precautionary measure.
Forward
Suhail Bhat - 6/10
Suhail, one of the top players for Mohun Bagan in the derby, was unable to make his mark in the match as most of his attempts turned disappointing. Though he received some good long balls from the midfield, the keeper did not make things easy for the player and was unable to create an impact.
Anirudh Thapa - 6/10
Thapa was presented with a platter of scoring opportunities, but he seldom marked a shot on target. Was visibly seen frustrated during multiple instances in the initial half. Somewhere in the line, it felt like his scoring boot was missing somewhere.

Substitutes
Kiyan Nassiri - 7/10
Alberto Rodriguez - 6.5/10
Sahal Abdul Samad - 8/10
Sahal was exceptional from the very first minute he came onto the pitch. Provided assist for the second goal, scored the fourth goal, made tons of attacking initiatives and had nothing short of an impressive match.
Abhishek Singh - 6.5/10
Manager
Jose Molina - /10
Though his team was leading in the first half, Molina would have been disappointed that they were able to find the back of the net only once. The triple change made by the gaffer completely turned the tide of the game, and since then, there was no looking back. The gaffer has to now focus on the match against Diamond Harbour, which will determine their qualifications.

Goalkeeper
Harpreet - 5/10
Did some good goalkeeping initially in the match. Came out of his position to win the through balls sent inside the box, made some blocks and saves and did well. Was at no man's land when the opponents scored their first. Later in the second half, he was just a spectator when MBSG scored. However, he made some stunning saves and kept the score 4-0.
Defenders
Ishan Gupta - 4.5/10
Had a disappointing match as he was unable to contribute defensively. Almost made a goal-line during the fourth goal, but it was ultimately called a goal.
Navjot Panesar - 5/10
Covered Suhail and made some very important interceptions to keep his side alive in the match.
Mohammed Aasif - 5/10
Was pretty solid in the first half, but left space in the defence during the second half, which meant that his team conceded goals in quick succession.
Lakhwinder Singh - 4/10
Lakhwinder had a struggle in the match as he had to put in a lot of effort to resist Liston in the wings, and even after all the work, he was unable to take down the player.

Midfielders
Piyush Bhandari - 4.5/10
Attempted to provide some through balls towards the attack, aiming at Harmandeep Singh, but Deepak Tangiri stood as an obstacle the resist the player.
Sanjog Jha - 5/10
Sanjog was essentially a central figure in the match who constantly attempted to move BSF forward into the attack from the middle third.
Harmandeep Singh - 4.5/10
Harmandeep was completely numbed by the opponent midfield, especially by the likes of Deepak Tangiri, and for this reason, his contributions for the team remained very low.
Khraw Borlong - 4.5/10
Attempted to contribute to his team in the midfield and progress to the attack, but had whatsoever minimal impact in the game.
Forward
Kishori - 5.5/10
Kishori was very active initially, making some early attacking initiatives into the Mohun Bagan goal. Got some good chances to score, however, the lack of support backfired on his attempts.
Navjot Singh - 4/10
Navjot Singh was nowhere to be seen in the attack and made minimal contributions for his team. One of the key reasons why BSF was unable to score was the lack of support from Navjot in the final third.
Manager
Gurjit Singh Atwal - 6/10
The manager's work has to be appreciated as everyone, ahead of the match would have thought that Mohun Bagan would have a goal galore against the team which lost 8-1 to DHFC. However, the coach stood solid with his tactics, deployed them properly and conceded only one goal in the first half. In the second half, he was unable to counter the three fresh legs of the opponents and had to concede more goals. The manager, though on the losing side, can have lot of positives in the match. If he could bring rhythm in the attack, this team can have a fighting chance against Mohammedan.
