Mohun Bagan 2-1 Punjab Player Ratings: Mariners Come Back After Conceding Early To Bag Third Win Of The Season Against High-Flying Punjab FC

Matchday 4 in the Indian Super League 2026/27 season saw Punjab FC visit the Salt Lake Stadium to face Mohun Bagan, who have started the new season on a mixed note. Punjab were coming off two wins from their first two games and were high on confidence about taking down one of the country's best teams.

The Shers did start the game in that manner, as Alfred Planas's right-footed strike from the edge of the box gave the visitors an early lead in the 3rd minute. Even with less possession than their opposition, the Mariners took their chances more effectively than Punjab FC would have liked.

Lee Erwin equalized for Mohun Bagan Super Giant with a super left-footed strike to beat Arshdeep Singh in goal in the 18th minute.

Just three minutes before halftime, the hosts got their well-deserved lead through Dejan Dražić, who ran all the way from the left flank into the edge of the box before shooting it hard, as the ball took a wicked deflection off Bijoy Varghese to beat Arshdeep at his near post.

Punjab continued their push for an equalizer in the second half and were the better side. Planas came quite close in getting his second, but Vishal Kaith made a good one-handed save to make up for his earlier mistake on the first strike.

Panagiotis Dilmperis' side held their ground and bagged a second win in a row to go top of the table for the time being, while Punjab would be disappointed in not taking their chances effectively enough.
