Xavi's Netherlands were looking to retain their top-two spot in Group B of the UEFA Nations League, as they faced Serbia on home turf, trying to repeat what they did a week ago at the Stadion Rajko Mitić.

The Netherlands national football team were on top throughout the first half, playing in the typical Xavi-ball way. They dominated possession, had more shots, and gave Serbia little to play for.

Oranje got their first goal in the 31st minute, when Teun Koopmeiners' free kick from the right-hand side of the edge of the penalty box found its way all the way through to the goal, unchallenged by any of the Serbian players.

However, the Serbia national football team were behind for just five minutes, as a nice bit of play on the left flank between Aleksa Terzić and Dušan Tadić released Terzić with some space for a cross, and his delivery found Mihajlo Cvetković, who nodded it across the face of the goal to finish it at Bart Verbruggen's far post.

Netherlands found themselves in the lead once again in the 72nd minute, as Denzel Dumfries' low cross was pulled back within the frame of the goal by Tijjani Reijnders, for an easy tap-in for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee.
