Pafos vs Bayern Munich player ratings

Summary

  • Vincent Kompany's side won the match against Pafios by 1-5
  • Kane was the best player of the match
  • Kin Min Jae was the worst player of the match

What a performance. From our perspective, FC Bayern München delivered an absolute masterclass in ruthless attacking football against a shell-shocked Pafos FC. The final score of 5-1 hardly does justice to the sheer dominance on display in this Champions League encounter. It was clear from the opening minutes what Bayern's intentions were.

Harry Kane rattled the woodwork early on, a warning shot that Pafos simply didn't heed. The floodgates opened soon after, with the English striker bagging the first of his two goals. Before you could even process it, FC Bayern München were 4-0 up inside 35 minutes, playing with a swagger and confidence that was almost cruel.

Pafos grabbed a stunning consolation goal through Mislav Orsic just before the break, a moment of individual brilliance in an otherwise grim half for the home side. But the second half saw more of the same dominance. The Bavarians controlled the tempo completely, adding a fifth goal through the sensational Michael Olise to cap off a truly memorable European night.

Bayern Munich Player Ratings vs Pafos

Here are Bayern Munich Player Ratings vs Pafos

Goalkeeper

Manuel Neuer - 6.5: A very quiet evening for the captain. He made one save all game. He couldn't do anything about Orsic's fantastic long-range strike. Mostly a spectator, he distributed the ball well when called upon. An easy night at the office.

Defenders

Dayot Upamecano - 6.5: Was solid before being substituted. He wasn't tested much by the Pafos attack. Won all his duels and looked comfortable on the ball. His job was made very easy by his team's midfield dominance. A routine performance.

Min-jae Kim - 4.5: A shocking performance, and we were surprised by it. He was credited with an error leading to a goal and just looked off the pace. Lost five duels and seemed uncharacteristically clumsy. A night to forget for the South Korean defender. He will want to bounce back immediately from this.

Raphaël Guerreiro - 8.5: What a display. He was a constant threat down the left flank. Scored a well-taken goal and created an incredible five chances for his teammates. Defensively he wasn't troubled. From our perspective, he played more like a winger than a defender, which worked perfectly.

Konrad Laimer - 7.0: A typically industrious and reliable performance. He did his defensive duties diligently and supported the attack when needed. Didn't do anything spectacular, but he didn't put a foot wrong either. A solid, dependable cog in a well-oiled machine.

Midfielders

Joshua Kimmich - 8.0: He was everywhere. Dictated play with 92 passes and created three chances. His range of passing was exceptional, completing 8 of his 10 long balls. Should have scored a header, but his overall contribution was immense. He ran the show from a deeper role.

Aleksandar Pavlovic - 8.0: The metronome in the middle of the park. He completed 104 of his 110 passes, an incredible display of composure and control. He kept everything ticking over, recycled possession perfectly, and even got a shot on target. What stood out to us was how mature he looked against senior opposition.

Luis Díaz - 7.0: Looked very sharp in the first half. Had a couple of shots saved and was a constant nuisance with his dribbling. Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet before being withdrawn at halftime. A promising 45 minutes of football.

Michael Olise - 9.0: Simply sensational. He was unplayable. Scored a fantastic goal and provided two assists for his teammates. Created four chances and was a nightmare for the Pafos defence with his skill and directness. A truly world-class performance that lit up the match.

Forwards

Harry Kane - 9.5: Our man of the match. A masterclass in forward play. He scored two clinical goals, hit the post, and created four chances, including a big one. His link-up play was sublime. He was simply too strong, too smart, and too good for the Pafos defence. A complete performance from the highest-rated player on the pitch.

Nicolas Jackson - 9.0: We were so impressed with his contribution. A goal and two assists tell only part of the story. His movement was intelligent, his finishing was clinical, and his link-up with Kane and Olise was seamless. He was a constant threat and fully deserved his goal.

Substitutes

Serge Gnabry - 6.5: Came on at half-time and looked lively, forcing a save late on.
Sacha Boey - 6.0: Replaced Kane and slotted in without any issues.
Jonathan Tah - 6.0: Had little to do after replacing Upamecano.
Lennart Karl - N/A: Came on late.
Tom Bischof - N/A: A late appearance.

Manager

V. Kompany - 8.5: He got his tactics absolutely spot on. His team pressed high, played with incredible attacking verve, and killed the game off in the first half. The decision to unleash his attacking trident paid off handsomely. A perfect European away day for the manager.

Goalkeeper

Neofytos Michail - 7.5: I honestly feel for the guy. He conceded five goals, but he also made a staggering ten saves. Without him, this could easily have been a double-digit scoreline. He was let down badly by his defence but can hold his head high. By far Pafos's best player.

Defenders

Kostas Pileas - 4.0: Had an absolute nightmare against the likes of Olise. He was constantly beaten, committed fouls, and was completely out of his depth. A brutal lesson in top-level football for the defender.

David Luiz - 4.5: The veteran defender looked his age. He couldn't cope with the pace and intelligence of Bayern's attackers. Blocked a couple of shots but was mostly chasing shadows before being substituted.

David Goldar - 5.0: As captain, he tried to rally his troops, but it was a futile effort. He made seven clearances and a few tackles but was part of a defensive unit that was completely dismantled. A very long and difficult night.

Derrick Luckassen - 4.5: Like the rest of the backline, he was overwhelmed. He was strong in the air, winning three aerial duels, but was poor on the ground. He struggled with the fluid movement of the Bayern forwards.

Midfielders

Jajá - 5.0: He worked hard and won a few duels, but was completely bypassed by the opposition midfield. He couldn't get on the ball or influence the game in any meaningful way. A frustrating evening.

Mislav Orsic - 6.5: The one bright spark for Pafos. He scored an absolute stunner from outside the box, showing great technique. He tried to create but was fighting a losing battle. At least he gave the home fans something to cheer about.

Ivan Sunjic - 4.0: Completely anonymous. Lost possession 13 times and offered no defensive protection for his back four. From our perspective, he was one of the worst performers on the pitch. A really poor showing.

Vlad Dragomir - 4.5: Another midfielder who was a passenger for much of the game. He couldn't get a foothold and was chasing shadows before being substituted. Offered very little on or off the ball.

Pêpê - 5.0: He tried to spray some long passes to get his team moving forward but with little success. He worked hard off the ball but was ultimately ineffective against a far superior midfield.

Forwards

Anderson Silva - 4.5: He was isolated and completely ineffective. He touched the ball only 18 times in his 59 minutes on the pitch. Had one wild shot off target. A very quiet and disappointing performance.

Substitutes

Landry Dimata - 5.0: Came on but couldn't impact the game.
Mons Bassouamina - 5.0: Provided fresh legs but little else.
Bruno Langa - 5.5: Did okay after coming on.
Domingos Quina - 5.5: Had one shot off target.
Ken Sema - N/A: Came on too late to make an impact.

Manager

J. Carcedo Mardones - 4.0: His team was set up in a way that left them completely exposed. There was no plan to contain Bayern's attack, and his side was duly punished. A harsh lesson in the realities of the Champions League for the manager.
