  • PSG march to the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.
  • Desire Doue and Dembele shine for Paris.
  • PSG was reduced to 9 men for the dying minutes of the game as Pacho and Hernandez were sent off.

European Champions PSG face off against the German Champions Bayern Munich for the much-awaited quarter-final clash of the Club World Cup at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The semi-final spot was at stake for the highly potent PSG vs Bayern Munich clash, and after a thrilling encounter, PSG/Bayern emerged victorious.

PSG got the ball rolling in their traditional manner by gifting their opponents the ball right at kickoff. It was FC Bayern Munich who were seen crafting attacks early in the game, but the keeper and the backline stood strong to deny their attempts. PSG made their rare attacks from the services of Achraf Hakimi from the wings. The game was more or less a technical one with multiple 1v1 battles. After a few minutes, the French side enjoyed the majority of the possession, and it felt like they were firmly in control of the game. But Bayern did well to defend and attempted some quick counterattacks. Hakimi put in an excellent performance and put in some excellent crosses. Let's dive deep into the PSG vs Bayern Munich stats.

The two players who stood out in the first half were the two keepers. Donnarumma and Neuer were exceptional and held their hands and bodies to each and every attack made. In the additional time of their half, Upamecano found the back of the net, and just as they were celebrating, the goal was ruled offside, and at half time, the score remained in a deadlock. Jamal Musiala suffered a dangerous injury on the verge of halftime. The Bayern vs PSG clash was end-to-end action.

The second half was filled with drama when Doue scored the goal for PSG, breaking the deadlock after constantly attempting for the goal. Just when things were going well for Paris, they were given two red cards, which made the game a 9v11 for the remaining minutes. Pacho and Hernandez were sent off by the referee for the rash fouls they made, and they will be missing the semi-final clash. Vincent Kompany and his side was unable to do anything despite the opponents reduced players. Marking the nail in the coffin, Dembele found the back of the net that secured the semi-final spot for PSG.

Here are the Paris Saint-Germain Player Ratings.

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma - 7.5/10

Donnarumma was nothing short of stunning in the first half. Reacted well, made some dives, put his body and palms forward to somehow stop all the attempts made by the German side. He was seen a bit distraught in the second half, as a collision with Musiala led to the player being injured and being subbed off. The keeper did not have much to do in the second half and was relieved of trouble. He was the best player in the PSG Player Ratings.

Defenders

Achraf Hakimi - 6.5/10

Hakimi ventured deep into the attacking third to create trouble for the opponent fullback. He was essentially the only player who initiated the rare attacks for Paris. He was seen a bit troubled as he was unable to resist the moves of Coman. Later, the performance of the player was just satisfactory.

Marquinhos - 6.5/10

Closed down the runs made by Kane and Coman and kept them silent in the match. Marquinhos marshalled the defence and communicated well with his fellow teammates. Created a tricky offside trap for the opponents, which denied them their goal in the first half. Made some interceptions and blocks and had a good day.

Willian Pacho - 6.5/10

Pacho showed good awareness and had a good presence of mind as he was seen sensing danger and heading away the crosses made by Coman inside the box. Closely shadowed Kane and put pressure on him to resist his play. Unfortunately, he was sent off as a result of a rash foul.

Nuno Mendes - 7/10

Nuno Mendes was having a dominating performance as usual, completely controlling the left flank. He was one of the players who was involved in most of the duels, and he was able to prevail in most of them. Came forward to attack a few times and provided some long balls to the attacking half.

Midfielders

Joao Neves - 7/10

Neves was beaten by the pace and trickery of Coman and was seen struggling to keep the opponent winger impactless. The player however kept giving his best and knocking the opponent door and finally in the second half, he assisted the Desire Doue goal to win the game for his team.

Vitinha - 6/10

Vitinha was average in the game and did not perform as how many would have expected him to perform in the PSG Player Ratings. Was involved in just a few duels where he struggled a bit. Was seen a couple of times in the backline clearing away the ball. But apart from that he did not have much impact into the game.

Fabian Ruiz - 6.5/10

In the 22nd minute, Fabian came close to scoring as he was unmarked and he pulled down a trigger from the edge of the box, but was stopped by Neuer. Was present everywhere, but this presence did not help the team much.

Forward

Bradley Barcola - 6/10

Barcola was relatively silent and did not have much impact in the first half. In the second half, he had a brilliant opportunity to rewrite that and score the opener as he came in a 1v1 situation with Neuer. The player, tied to curl the ball to the far corner, but the keeper springed into action to deny him from scoring.

Desire Doue - 7.5/10

Was dangerous just outside the penalty area taking long ranger shots from the early minutes of the game. Made some quality speedy runs in the right wing and dribbled past the defeners to provide some carpet crosses inside the box, but to his disappointment, there was no one to tap in the ball inside the goal. Later, he finally foud the back of the net for his team after controlling a pass from

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia - 7/10

Pressed very well in the attacking third and crafted some good chances for his team. Won a low cross from Hakimi and attempted a shot only to find the side netting. In the 32nd minute he made a beautiful run from the wings and took a shot which to his dismay was blocked by Neuer.

Substitutes

Ousmane Dembele - 7/10
Lucas Hernandez - 5/10
Warren Zaire Emery - NA
Lucas Beraldo - NA

Manager

Luis Enrique - 7.5/10

Enrique and his team once again dominated the opponents. Stuck to their tactics and came up with the results they wanted with the services of Doue and Dembele. The only trouble the gaffer would have would be the accumulation of two red cards, which would adversely affect the performance in the semi-finals.

Here are the Bayern Munich Player Ratings.

Goalkeeper

Manuel Neuer - 6.5/10

39-year-old Neuer displayed pure class throughout the match. In the first half, he stood like a wall and blocked the powerful attempts of the opponents, and made everything look very easy. Though he was challenged almost every couple of minutes, he denied the opponents every time. In the second half, he made a stunning save in a 1v1 situation with Barcola, which probably was the save of the tournament. Made a terrible error in the 73rd minute, but was lucky.

Defenders

Josip Stanisic - 6/10

Stanisic took down Hakimi in the 10th minute and escaped a yellow card as he got a warning from the referee instead. From then on, the player was seen playing a bit cautiously in the game. In the 34th minute, he sustained an injury, leading to his being subbed off.

Jonathan Tah - 5.5/10

Made some strong tackles to keep the opponents away from scoring. He was just average in the defence and did not have much role in stopping the opponents from scoring.

Dayot Upamecano - 6.5/10

The defender stood strong like a wall to block the attempts made by Paris in the first half. In the stoppage time of the first half, he found the back of the net. To his misfortune, the goal was ruled offside.

Konrad Laimer - 5.5/10

Laimer was released down the wing, and he made a solid run towards the goal in the eighth minute, where the player, instead of passing to his teammates, attempted a shot, wasting an opportunity to provide Bayern with the lead. While coming into defence, he was taken down multiple times by Kvaratskhelia and was subject to mockery.

Midfielders

Aleksandar Pavlovic - 6.5/10

Just ahead of the break, Pavlovic played a beautiful floated ball aimed at Jamal Musiala, which, though it didn't find the back of the net, added pressure upon the opponents. Later, he remained more or less impactless.

Joshua Kimmich - 6/10

Kimmich performed way below expectations in the PSG vs Bayern Munich clash. He was just average in winning duels and providing accurate passes. The player gifted possession to the opponents, and his goal attempts were skied off.

Kingsley Coman - 7/10

Coman kept the opponents busy by floating in some crosses inside the box, targeting Harry Kane. Made a mockery of the entire right wing of the opponents and completely paralyzed them with his moves. Continued to attack from the flank, but the lack of support affected his team badly.

Jamal Musiala - 7/10

Musiala had a great role in dispossessing the opponents and recovering the ball in the midfield. In multiple instances, the player came into the defence and stole the ball to break up the PSG attacks. Got a chance to find the opener in the dying minutes of the first half, but just fell short. Just seconds before the first half ended, he collided with the keeper, leading to a bad injury, and was forced to be subbed off for Sacha Boey.

Michale Olise - 6.5/10

The former Crystal Palace man was the first person to initiate attacks at the opponent's goal. Though he attempted some shots, it lacked power. Took a beautiful free kick just ahead of the break, which, although it found the back of the net, was ruled offside. Later, he attempted a few shots, but they turned out disappointing.

Forward

Harry Kane - 6/10

Kane had his contributions in almost all the attacking initiatives of Bayern, directly or indirectly. He was present to meet most of the crosses that came aiming at him, but somewhere in the line, it felt like the player had trouble finishing as all of the attempts were either overhit or underhit. The constant pressure from Pacho affected his performance badly. An error from the player led to the opponent scoring the goal.

Substitutes

Sacha Boey - 6.5/10

Sacha Boey came in as an early substitute for injured Stanisic. Played decently throughout the match, excelling in every aspect of the game he was involved in.

Serge Gnabry - 6/10
Leon Goretzka - 6/10
Thomas Muller - NA
Guerreiro - NA

Manager

Vincent Kompany - 6/10

Kompany had the upper edge of the game in the first half. But when it came in the second half, the injuries of Joseph Stanisic and Musiala affected the complete rhythm of his team. Harry Kane was ineffective and this added up the trouble for his side. Even when the opponents were reduced to 9 men his team was unable to do anything, meaning they will have to leave the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 with many regrets.
