PSG 4–0 Inter Miami Player Ratings: Joao Neves Rated 9/10 as PSG Knock Out Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami to Reach FIFA Club World Cup Quarterfinals

Paris Saint-Germain booked their tickets to the next round of FIFA Club World Cup 2025 by crushing Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami in a one-sided affair at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday, June 29, 2025. The PSG-Inter Miami match, which had the attention of the entire football world, started in a strange fashion, with the Ligue 1 outfit unnecessarily losing the ball. João Neves emerged as the star of the show, as the PSG midfielder contributed with a couple of goals to help his team seal a dominant 4-0 win in the FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 fixture.
PSG came so close to scoring just in the 4th minute, but Inter Miami CF goalkeeper, Oscar Ustari, stood firm. Almost a minute later, Vitinha took a beautiful free kick to find unmarked João Neves, who easily headed the ball into the net, providing his team with a crucial lead in the highly anticipated PSG vs Miami game. PSG were very involved in every aspect of the game, even when they were leading. PSG pressed, won balls, and suffocated Inter de Miami. Lionel Messi and other Inter Miami players could have hardly touched the ball in the first half.
In the 39th minute of the PSG vs Inter Miami game, João doubled the delight for PSG FC. taking advantage of a defensive error by Sergio Busquets. A few moments later, Aviles, Inter Miami brought as substitute, conceded an own goal before Achraf Hakimi scored off a rebound to kill the Inter vs PSG match. After the first-half whistle, the Inter Miami vs PSG score was already 4-0, in favour of the Ligue 1 team.
The PSG vs Inter Miami lineups were quite decorated, with Lionel Messi leading the team sheet of Miami FC, alongside some former Barcelona colleagues like Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba. Despite his legendary stature, Messi was unable to influence the PSG vs Inter Miami stats. InterMiami had some good chances in the second half, but failed to make them count as the reigning UEFA Champions League winners remained at the top.
As one of the most sought-after fixtures of the Club World Cup comes to an end, let's take a look at PSG vs Inter Miami Player Ratings:

PSG Player Ratings

Here are the PSG Player Ratings in PSG vs Inter Miami Club World Cup game:
Goalkeeper
Gianluigi Donnarumma - 6/10
Donnarumma had almost nothing to do in the match. The game was so one-sided that his first touch came in the 20th minute. Later, the Paris Saint-Germain FC goalkeeper just had around half a dozen more touches in the first half. In the second half, though Inter Miami attempted to attack,
Defenders
Achraf Hakimi - 8/10
Hakimi was never seen in the defence and spent most of the minutes in the attacking third during the Miami PSG clash, constantly providing crosses and carpet passes inside the penalty area to mount pressure on the already devastated opponents. In the stoppage time of the first half, Hakimi took a shot which deflected off an opponent defender and hit the crossbar. However, he was quick to react and scored the fourth goal from the rebound.
Marquinhos - 7/10
Marquinhos had a decent performance in the match. He was seen more as a CMF than a defender, as the opponents rarely made an attack. Won duels, made some dribbles, provided a good share of long balls, and had a solid day. Was subbed off after the first half, probably as a precautionary measure.
Willian Pacho - 6.5/10
Had nothing to do in the first half. Once in a blue moon, when the opponents came with their fatal attacks, he was there to clear them away. Was the key reason why the rest of the players in the backline had the autonomy to move forward on the pitch and contribute to the attack.
Nuno Mendes - 7/10
Nuno Mendes played similarly to Hakimi and spent most of the time in the attacking half. The player's role was pivotal as he constantly won the balls in the midfield and gave some solid long passes towards the attacking third to create trouble in the box. Was one of the key reasons why Messi was silent in the first half.

Midfielders
João Neves - 9/10
João Neves played clever and was essentially the ‘fox in the box’. Was unmarked and made a speedy run towards the far post to head in the first goal. In the 39th minute, he had a solid positioning in the box and once again he tapped in the ball to find the back of the net, doubling the delight for PSG. Wherever the player was, he dominated, be it in duels, dribbles, or passing. Had a passing accuracy of 95% which was one of the highest for a player in the match. Made some interceptions and tackles to dispossess the opponents.
Vitinha - 8/10
Vitinha had a great presence of mind as he anticipated João Neves at the second post and took a beautiful free kick, which was easily connected by the Portuguese midfielder, providing his team with the lead. Made some dribbles and emerged successful in almost all of them.
Fabian Ruiz - 7.5/10
Had an integral role in the midfield third. Fabian Ruiz was seen everywhere in the attacking half and had a role in most of the Paris attacks, directly or indirectly. Had an exceptional work rate and won multiple duels for his team. Gave some key passes and assisted the second goal after winning the ball from the opponents.
Forward
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - 7/10
Had loads of pace and skills. Glided into the penalty area and set it up to Barcola, who forced an early save to provide momentum for PSG. Had some good shots at goal as Kvaratskhelia was seen trying to bend the ball to the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Desire Doue - 7/10
Rather than attacking from the centre, Desire Doue infiltrated into the box from the left flank. He linked up with Kvaratskhelia and made some solid one-touch passes to get past the defenders and make their moves inside the box. Covered almost every blade of grass in the attacking half and his presence turned out to be a blessing for his team.
Bradley Barcola - 7/10
Forced an early save from the keeper, and this added pressure upon the opponents and helped his team to get the steering hand in the match. Provided a clever pass to Fabian just a few minutes ahead of the break, who in turn assisted it to Joao Neves to double their lead. Though the attempts made by Bradley Barcola did not find the back of the net, it surely helped to make the opponents feel helpless, massively affecting their confidence.

Substitutes
Lucas Beraldo - 7/10
Warren Zaire-Emery - 6/10
Ousmane Dembele - 7/10
Ousmane Dembele came on as a substitute and put up a commendable performance in his brief stint on the pitch.
Lucas Hernandez - 6/10
Kang-in Lee - 6/10
Manager
Luis Enrique - 8/10
What a day PSG manager Luis Enrique had. Probably had the most dominating game of his career as his team properly understood the weaknesses of the opponents and counted to punish them in the most effective manner. His men properly deployed the tactics to seal the spot in the quarter-finals.

Inter Miami Player Ratings

Here are the Inter Miami Player Ratings in PSG vs Inter Miami Club World Cup game:
Goalkeeper
Oscar Ustari - 6/10
Oscar Ustari was termed the best goalkeeper of the tournament so far by many. It felt like he was repeating the same, as he made a stunning save in the 4th minute to deny Barcola from scoring. However, to his dismay, the Ligue 1 opponents scored in the very next minute as a result of a defensive error. From then it was raining goals and the keeper was just a spectator.
Defenders
Jordi Alba - 5.5/10
Was sloppy in the first half as the full-back was unable to shadow Joao Neves on the right, which gifted the opponents the goal. Jordi Alba was nowhere near spotting the runs of Barcola and relied on luck to try and survive. Failed to mark the players on the right flank, which led them leading to a loss.
Noah Allen - NA
Allen played for just a total of 19 minutes in the match. In these minutes, the player had just 11 touches and won just one duel.
Maximiliano Falcon - 5/10
Was terrible on the defense. Left a lot of space in the backline, and this was punished badly by the opponents. Was subject to mockery by the opponents as he was unable to resist the vigor shown by the opponents. Was one of the key reasons why the goal margin went from 1-0 to 4-0 in just a span of seven minutes.
Marcelo Weigandt - 5.5/10
Just in the 4th minute of the game, Marcelo committed a foul in a dangerous location, which paved the way for the opponents to score the opening goal. After this error, Weigandt was seen lacking confidence and this led to the player committing back-to-back errors.

Midfielders
Telasco Segovia - 5/10
Was having a bad day at the office. The entire left flank was numbed by Neves, Barcola, and Hakim, and Segovia alone succumbed to this brute force. Had no impact in the game and was subbed off in the second half.
Sergio Busquets - 5.5/10
Had one job: somehow pass the ball to Suarez or Messi. Sergio Busquets was terrible at holding the ball, as he gifted the ball to the opponents in the midfield during multiple instances. One such error led to PSG scoring their second goal. The player made regular errors and was not at all up to par.
Federico Redondo - 6/10
Yet another average figure in the game. Did not have any impact whatsoever in the PSG vs Miami game throughout the match.
Tadeo Allende - 6.5/10
Was probably one of the only positives in the midfield. Won some duels, had a decent passing accuracy and had a satisfactory performance. Was seen making some tackles and interceptions to win back the lost ball.
Forward
Luis Suarez - 6/10
The Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez, was isolated for the vast majority of the first half. In the second half, he attempted to make some attacks but everything went to vain as he was unable to get past the strong defence line.
Lionel Messi - 6.5/10
The PSG defense kept Messi in their wraps. Had almost no contributions in the first half. In the second half, the player was seen making some constant efforts to attack from the left. But the lack of support meant that all the attempts evaporated into thin air.
Substitutes
Tomas Aviles - 5/10
Had a terrible day. Came in very early as a substitute and his first touch ended in a yellow card as he chopped down Nuno Mendes. In the 44th minute, Aviles failed to defend properly and conceded an own goal to provide the third goal for the opponents.
Benjamin Cremmaschi - NA
Manager
Javier Mascherano - 5/10
Somewhere in the line, it felt like Javier Mascherano's Inter Miami did not do their homework for the PSG match. They were completely dominated by the opponents, and there was nothing much his side could do to come out of that. The team lacked intent after trailing and the gaffer was unable to regroup them.
