The home side struggled to gain any rhythm, with their midfield repeatedly overpowered and unable to provide meaningful support going forward. Despite Jan Oblak’s best efforts, including several key saves that kept the score respectable, Slovenia remained second best throughout.
Kosovo sealed the result in the second half when Zan Karnicnik, under pressure, inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. The goal summed up Slovenia’s difficult night and extinguished any remaining hope of a comeback.
For Kosovo, it was a disciplined and deserved victory that boosts their qualification campaign. For Slovenia, it was a performance their fans will want to move past quickly, marked by early errors and an inability to respond.

Here are SportsDunia’s Slovenia Player Ratings from the Slovenia vs Kosovo game:
Goalkeeper
Jan Oblak - 6.5: What can you say about the captain. He was left exposed by his defense time and again. He made six saves, some of them top-class, to keep the scoreline from becoming a true embarrassment. Couldn't do anything about the opener or the unfortunate own goal. Without him, this would have been much, much worse. It felt like he was fighting a losing battle alone.
Defenders
Jaka Bijol - 5.0: A difficult evening for the defender. He lost possession a staggering 16 times and looked a step behind the Kosovo attackers all game. While he made a few recoveries, his overall contribution was not up to his usual standard. He seemed to struggle with the pace and movement of the opposition forwards. A night he'll want to move on from.
Vanja Drkusic - 5.5: He won a decent number of his aerial duels and made several clearances. However, he was part of a backline that looked completely at sea for large parts of the game. He put his body on the line but ultimately couldn't stem the tide. A classic case of trying hard but being overwhelmed by the opposition's quality.
David Brekalo - 5.0: A performance to forget. He was dribbled past on a couple of key occasions and looked uncomfortable throughout. His passing was mostly safe, but defensively he offered very little resistance. From our perspective, he lacked the assertiveness needed to command his area against a lively Kosovo frontline.

Midfielders
Zan Karnicnik - 4.0: A truly nightmarish game for the midfielder. Despite winning an impressive number of tackles, his performance will only be remembered for one thing. The own goal in the second half was a calamitous moment that completely killed any hope of a comeback. You could see the devastation on his face. It’s tough, but that mistake defines his rating.
Jon Gorenc Stankovic - 5.0: Lasted just 45 minutes before being hooked at halftime. He was largely anonymous in the first half, unable to get a grip on the midfield battle. He was bypassed too easily, and the substitution felt necessary. Didn't do much wrong, but he certainly didn't do much right either.
Timi Max Elsnik - 6.0: One of the few bright spots in a dark performance. He showed energy and desire, always looking to get on the ball and drive forward. He won his tackles and tried to create, but he was fighting a losing battle. A solid effort in a losing cause.
Erik Janza - 5.0: Another player who didn't return for the second half. He lost the ball far too often and his delivery from wide areas was poor. He failed to provide any real threat down the flank. His substitution was no surprise at all. Just not his day.
Forwards
Andraz Sporar - 4.5: A ghost. He was on the pitch for 66 minutes but had a shockingly low number of touches. He offered no threat, no hold-up play, and no presence whatsoever. It was as if Slovenia were playing with ten men when he was on. A really poor outing for a player of his caliber.
Zan Vipotnik - 5.5: At least he showed some fight. He was isolated for most of the game but still managed to get a shot on target and win a few duels. He was starved of service and had to feed on scraps. It's hard to be too critical when your team offers so little support.
Tomi Horvat - 5.5: Had one of Slovenia's few shots on target and showed some nice touches. However, he was also guilty of losing possession far too many times which killed momentum. He was a mixed bag, showing flashes of quality undone by carelessness. Substituted late in the game.

Manager
M. Kek - 4.5: His team looked completely unprepared for what Kosovo brought to the table. The tactics seemed wrong from the start, with his side being passive and easily picked apart. The halftime substitutions did nothing to change the flow of the game. A very poor day at the office for the Slovenian manager.

Goalkeeper
Amir Saipi - 7.0: A comfortable night for the keeper. He made the saves he needed to, especially one from Tomi Horvat in the first half. He commanded his box well and his distribution was decent. A clean sheet and a deserved win, he'll be delighted.
Defenders
Lumbardh Dellova - 7.0: A solid and composed performance at the back. He was strong in the tackle and read the game well. Picked up a yellow card but it didn't detract from his overall positive display. He even got forward to support the attack, making him a useful outlet.
Amir Rrahmani - 8.0: A true captain's performance. He was a colossal figure at the heart of the defense, winning his battles and organizing the backline with authority. His passing was almost flawless, helping build attacks from deep. He made the art of defending look easy tonight.
Albian Hajdari - 8.5: Absolutely outstanding. Not only was he defensively sound, but his contribution going forward was immense. He created three chances and his long passing was a major weapon, with a 90% success rate. What stood out to us was his composure and intelligence on the ball. A phenomenal all-around display.

Midfielders
Elvis Rexhbecaj - 6.5: A tireless worker in the engine room. He didn't do anything spectacular, but he didn't need to. He broke up play, harried the Slovenian midfield, and kept things simple. An unsung hero who provided the platform for the attacking players to shine before he was subbed.
Mërgim Vojvoda - 7.5: A constant source of creativity. He bagged an assist and was always looking to deliver a killer pass or cross. His energy down the flank was a problem for Slovenia all evening. A very effective performance before being taken off for a well-deserved rest.
Dion Gallapeni - 7.5: We were really impressed by this player. He was tenacious, winning almost all of his duels and drawing several fouls. He also showed great skill on the ball, with three successful dribbles. A complete midfield performance, balancing defensive duties with attacking intent perfectly.
Leon Avdullahu - 7.0: The quiet orchestrator. He kept possession ticking over with an excellent 90% pass accuracy. He also showed a creative spark, laying on two key passes for his teammates. A very tidy and intelligent performance that helped Kosovo control the tempo of the game.
Forwards
Florent Muslija - 8.0: A livewire throughout. He was a nightmare for the defense with his direct running and dribbling ability. He had four shots and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself. His performance was full of flair and purpose, a joy to watch.
Fisnik Asllani - 8.5: Our Man of the Match. His goal after just six minutes was a perfect poacher's finish, setting the tone for the entire game. He was a constant menace with his movement and his desire to shoot on sight. He was the sharpest player on the pitch and fully deserves the accolades for a match-winning display.
Vedat Muriqi - 7.0: A classic target man display. He might not have scored, but his physical presence was crucial for Kosovo's game plan. He won a huge number of aerial duels, held the ball up brilliantly, and brought his teammates into play. He occupied the defenders and created space for others to exploit.
Substitutes
No substitutes were rated. The data for the players who featured from the bench was not available for a comprehensive rating.
Manager
F. Foda - 8.5: Masterclass. His game plan worked to perfection. He sent his team out to be aggressive from the first whistle, and they never let up. They were superior in every department. The pressing was organized, the attacking play was sharp, and the defense was solid. An impeccable away performance orchestrated by the manager.
