Sporting CP Player Ratings vs Paris Saint Germain

Goalkeeper

Rui Silva - 8.0: What a performance from the man between the sticks. He made five saves, including a brilliant stop to deny Dembélé in the second half. He was commanding, confident and a huge reason his team were still in the game to begin with. The yellow card was a minor blemish on an otherwise stellar night.

Defenders

Matheus Reis - 6.5: A difficult night for Reis, who was constantly under pressure from PSG's fluid attack. He made a few crucial clearances and interceptions but was stretched thin. He held his ground but it was a tough assignment for the whole backline.

Iván Fresneda - 7.5: We were really impressed by Fresneda's defensive solidity. He won 7 of his 11 duels and made some crucial tackles and interceptions. He even managed to create a chance going forward. A very mature and composed performance under immense pressure.

Gonçalo Inácio - 7.0: The captain led by example, putting his body on the line with four blocked shots. He was a vocal organizer at the back, trying to keep his defensive unit compact against the Parisian onslaught. A true captain's performance, even if the defence was breached.

Midfielders

Hidemasa Morita - 7.0: A tireless worker in the engine room. Morita covered an incredible amount of ground, making four tackles and recovering the ball seven times. His energy was vital in disrupting PSG's rhythm, even when they had all the possession. He was the glue holding the midfield together.

Geny Catamo - 5.0: A frustrating night for the midfielder. While he showed flashes of danger and got a shot on target, his decision-making was poor. He lost possession 16 times and was credited with an error leading to a goal, which is a cardinal sin in a game like this. A performance he'll want to forget.

João Simões - 6.0: It felt like Simões was chasing shadows for much of the game. PSG's midfield superiority made it an almost impossible task for him. He worked hard and won a decent number of duels but struggled to impose himself on the match before being substituted.

Ricardo Mangas - 5.5: A tough outing for Mangas, who picked up a yellow card and was subbed off just after the hour mark. He struggled to contain PSG's wide players and committed a few clumsy fouls. Not his best night in a Sporting shirt.

Forwards

Francisco Trincão - 6.5: He provided the assist for Suárez's winner which bumps up his rating significantly. Outside of that moment of quality, he was a bit on the periphery. He had a few shots but never truly threatened to take the game by the scruff of the neck himself. Still, a decisive contribution.

Maxi Araújo - 6.0: A hardworking but ultimately ineffective performance from Araújo. He battled hard, winning his share of duels and drawing fouls, but offered little in the final third. His energy was commendable but his team needed more quality from him.

Luis Suárez - 9.0: The undisputed man of the match. Two shots on target, two goals. That is the definition of clinical. He was a nuisance all night, but when the chances came, he was lethal. His 90th-minute header was a thing of beauty and won his team the game. A truly heroic performance.

Substitutes

Georgios Vagiannidis - 7.5: Came on and made an immediate impact, providing the assist for Suárez's first goal. A game-changing substitution.

Daniel Bragança - N/A: Brought on late to see out the game.

Alisson Santos - N/A: Not enough time to make an impact.

Giorgi Kochorashvili - N/A: A stoppage-time substitution.

Manager

R. Gomes Borges - 8.0: His team looked second-best for most of the match, but his game plan worked to perfection. He set his team up to be resilient, they absorbed immense pressure, and his substitutions were spot on. A tactical masterclass in how to win when you're not the better team on the day.

Paris Saint Germain Player Ratings vs Sporting CP

Goalkeeper

Lucas Chevalier - 6.0: A spectator for most of the game. He had virtually nothing to do until Sporting's first goal, and he couldn't do much about either of them. A frustrating night where he was let down by his defence on two rare occasions.

Defenders

Marquinhos - 7.0: The captain was an absolute giant in the air winning 7 aerial duels and was nearly perfect in possession. However, he'll be disappointed to have missed a couple of good headed chances from set-pieces. Defensively solid, but the loss stains his performance.

Nuno Mendes - 7.0: A very busy performance. He was excellent on the ball with 93 touches and created three chances for his teammates. He was a constant outlet on the left but maybe could have been tighter for the winning goal. A good, but not great, performance.

Warren Zaïre-Emery - 6.5: Thought he had scored the opener only for VAR to intervene. He was tidy in his defensive duties and scored a goal, but his influence waned as the game went on. A solid but unspectacular evening for the young star.

Willian Pacho - 7.0: Very impressive in possession, with a 96% pass accuracy. He was calm, composed, and made several key tackles and interceptions. It’s hard to fault him for the result as he was one of PSG's most reliable performers.

Midfielders

Fabián Ruiz - 8.0: Before his injury, he was running the show. He created four chances, including a big one, and was at the heart of everything good for PSG. His departure was a big blow, as he was the most likely player to unlock the Sporting defence. A fantastic display cut short.

Vitinha - 7.5: An incredible 132 touches of the ball tells you everything about his dominance. He dictated the tempo of the game with his near-perfect passing. However for all his control, he couldn't provide the killer pass or goal to win the match. A beautiful performance that lacked a decisive edge.

Senny Mayulu - 6.5: Looked bright and lively in his time on the pitch. He had a few efforts on goal and showed some neat touches. A promising performance from the youngster before he was substituted in the second half.

Forwards

Ousmane Dembélé - 6.5: The classic Dembélé performance. He was a constant threat, created four chances, and got an assist but was also incredibly frustrating. He lost possession 17 times and his final product was often lacking when it mattered most. So much talent, but it just didn't click for him.

Désiré Doué - 7.5: What stood out to us was his sheer volume of involvement. 108 touches for a forward is remarkable. He created a staggering seven chances but couldn't find a goal or an assist. An incredibly creative and dangerous performance that, bafflingly, yielded no reward.

Bradley Barcola - 6.5: Like his fellow attackers, Barcola was busy and involved. He created five chances but also struggled to make a decisive impact. His performance was full of effort but short on the quality needed to break down a stubborn defence.

Substitutes

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - 8.0: An instant impact. Came on and scored the equaliser with a cool finish. He looked dangerous every time he touched the ball and can count himself very unlucky to be on the losing side.

Gonçalo Ramos - 6.0: Brought on to find a winner but barely had a sniff of goal.

Illia Zabarnyi - 6.0: Came on for the injured Ruiz and helped PSG maintain control but couldn't influence the final score.

Manager

L. Martínez García - 6.0: He will be absolutely furious. His team played the better football, created more than enough chances to win several games, and controlled the match from start to finish. Yet, they lost. His philosophy is clear, but his team's lack of a clinical edge and defensive lapses cost them everything.
