Sporting CP vs Vitoria Guimaraes Player Ratings

What an absolute demolition we witnessed at the Estádio José Alvalade. Sporting CP were simply on another level, dismantling a shell-shocked Vitória Guimarães in a dominant Liga Portugal encounter. From our perspective, the match was over as a contest inside the first 25 minutes. The home side played with an intensity and fluidity that was breathtaking to watch.

The early goals from Gonçalo Inácio and Daniel Bragança set the tone for a one-sided affair. Vitória Guimarães had no answer to the relentless pressure and movement. The game felt like a training ground exercise for the Lions at times, as they carved through the opposition defense with ease. It was a complete performance, highlighted by the sheer brilliance of one man in particular.

The standout player, and our man of the match, was undoubtedly Luis Suárez, who was involved in three of the five goals. This match will live long in the memory of the home fans. While a late own goal gave the visitors a slight consolation, it did little to dampen the jubilant atmosphere. A truly commanding victory for Sporting CP. Here are Sportsdunia's Sporting CP vs Vitoria Guimaraes player ratings.

Sporting CP Player Ratings vs Vitoria Guimaraes

Check out the Sporting CP player ratings vs Vitoria Guimaraes.

Goalkeeper

Rui Silva - 7.5: He had a relatively quiet evening, which is a testament to his team's dominance. Still, he was called upon to make five saves and did so with confidence. What stood out to us was his command of the area, claiming a high ball and punching clear once. He couldn't do anything about the unfortunate own goal. Solid distribution with the ball at his feet.

Defenders

Zeno Debast - 6.5: A strange game for the defender. For 85 minutes, he was very good, contributing an assist and making six crucial clearances. However, the performance is heavily marred by the late own goal. It was a moment of miscommunication or misfortune, but it blots his copybook. Without that, he'd be an 8, but we have to mark him down for it.

Maxi Araújo - 8.0: A fantastic performance from the defender. He capped the first half perfectly with a well-taken goal, showing great attacking instinct. Defensively, he was astute, winning most of his duels and making key tackles. He was a bundle of energy down the flank and contributed at both ends of the pitch throughout the match.

Gonçalo Inácio - 8.0: The captain led by example. He set the tone for the entire match by scoring the opening goal with a powerful header. From our perspective, he was a calming presence at the back, organizing the defense and making important interceptions. His evening was cut short, but his job was more than done by then. A commanding display.

Eduardo Quaresma - 8.5: What a beast. This was a masterclass in defending. We noticed he won 10 out of his 12 duels, which is just incredible. He was a brick wall, making a staggering seven tackles and five clearances. Attackers just bounced off him. He read the game perfectly and was positionally flawless. A truly dominant defensive performance.

Midfielders

Hidemasa Morita - 7.5: He only played the first half, but what a half it was. He was the creative spark, setting up two big chances and grabbing an assist. His passing was incisive and he controlled the midfield battle alongside Bragança. It was a surprise to see him taken off, but the game was already won. A very effective 45 minutes.

Pedro Gonçalves - 8.0: Another player who was at the heart of everything good for Sporting CP. He was a constant creative outlet, getting an assist and always looking for that killer pass. His movement was intelligent, and he linked up brilliantly with the forwards. A classy and influential performance before his substitution.

Geny Catamo - 7.0: A tireless performance on the wing. He didn't grab the headlines like some of his teammates, but his work rate was immense. He won his duels and drew fouls, constantly putting pressure on the opposition fullback. His final product could have been better, but he played his part in the team's overall dominance.

Francisco Trincão - 6.5: From our perspective, this was a slightly frustrating night for Trincão. He got into great positions and his movement was good, but he missed a big chance that he should have buried. He seemed just a fraction off the pace compared to the blistering form of his attacking partners. Not a bad game, but he'll feel he could have done more.

Daniel Bragança - 8.5: A superb, all-action midfield display. He scored a fantastic goal to double the lead and was a dynamo in the middle of the park. He won a remarkable seven of his eight duels and made three interceptions. He dictated the tempo, broke up play, and drove his team forward. A complete midfield performance.

Forwards

Luis Suárez - 9.0: Man of the Match. He was simply unplayable. To score one goal and assist two more is an incredible return. His power, pace, and intelligent running terrorized the Vitória Guimarães defense all night. He was the focal point of the attack and delivered a truly world-class performance. A joy to watch.

Substitutes

Luis Guilherme Lira dos Santos - 7.5: Came on at half-time and scored a goal. Can't ask for much more than that.

Nuno Santos - 6.5: Provided fresh legs and tested the keeper late on.

Giorgi Kochorashvili - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Geovany Quenda - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Ousmane Diomande - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Manager

R. Gomes Borges - 9.0: His game plan was executed to perfection. He sent his Sporting CP side out with ferocious intensity and they blew the opposition away from the first whistle. His tactics completely nullified Vitória Guimarães. The substitutions were well-timed. A flawless night from the manager.

Vitoria Guimaraes Player Ratings vs Sporting CP

Check out the Vitoria Guimaraes player ratings vs Sporting CP.

Goalkeeper

Charles - 6.0: A truly thankless task. He conceded five goals but also made five saves, two of which were from inside the box. From our perspective, he was left completely exposed by his defense time and time again. It’s hard to fault him too much when faced with such a clinical and relentless attacking force. He prevented the scoreline from being even worse.

Defenders

Óscar Rivas - 5.0: A really tough night for the defender. He was part of a backline that was pulled apart at will. He lost key duels and struggled to cope with the movement of the Sporting attackers. Made a few clearances but was largely chasing shadows. A night he'll want to forget quickly.

João Mendes - 5.5: He tried, but it was an impossible job. He was constantly on the back foot and part of a defensive unit that conceded five goals. He got booked and was dribbled past too easily on one occasion. A difficult evening against a far superior opponent in this Liga Portugal fixture.

Thiago Balieiro - 4.5: The worst performer on the pitch. It was a torrid experience for him against Luis Suárez. He picked up a yellow card, committed three fouls, and didn't win a single duel all game. He looked completely out of his depth. A brutal lesson for the young defender.

Tony Strata - 6.0: In a defense that crumbled, he was one of the few who showed some real fight. He made two tackles and won his duels. He even managed to get two shots on target, testing the opposition keeper. It's a low bar, but he was arguably Vitória's best defender on a miserable night.

Midfielders

Beni Mukendi - 5.5: He saw a lot of the ball and his passing accuracy was high, but it was all ineffective. He offered very little defensive cover for his backline. The midfield battle was completely lost, and the game simply passed him by. Needed to be much more combative and influential.

Samu - 6.0: The captain tried to rally his troops, but it was a futile effort. He created a couple of chances and won most of his duels, showing some leadership. But he was fighting a losing battle against a dominant Sporting CP midfield. A lot of effort for no reward.

Diogo Sousa - 5.0: His night was defined by an early yellow card that forced him to play with the handbrake on. He was ineffective and was rightly substituted at halftime. He just couldn't get into the game at all.

Noah Jose Saviolo - 5.0: He really struggled. We noticed he lost possession 13 times and was dispossessed on four occasions, which killed any momentum for his team. Picked up a yellow card and offered very little going forward or defensively. An anonymous and poor performance.

Miguel Nogueira - 5.5: He showed some spirit in the first half, getting a couple of shots away and making some tackles. At least he was trying to make something happen. However, he faded badly as the game wore on and was eventually subbed off having made little real impact.

Forwards

Gustavo Silva - 5.0: A completely isolated and thankless role. He was starved of service and had to feed on scraps. He managed three shots, but none of them truly threatened the goal. It's tough to rate him harshly when his team offered so little support, but he was ineffective.

Substitutes

Goncalo Nogueira - 5.5: Came on but couldn't change the flow of the game.

Alioune Ndoye - 5.5: Had very little service to work with.

Oumar Camara - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Fabio Blanco - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Manager

G. Moreira Lameiras - 4.5: His team was unprepared and tactically outclassed from the first minute to the last. The defensive setup was shambolic, and they had no answer for Sporting's attacking prowess. His substitutions made no difference. A very bad day at the office for the Vitória Guimarães manager.
