West Bromwich Albion Player Ratings vs Swansea City

Goalkeeper

Josh Griffiths - 7.0: A really solid performance from the keeper who made five saves. What stood out to us was his crucial stop from a close-range Ronald shot in the second half. His distribution was a bit wayward at times, losing possession 27 times, but his shot-stopping kept his team in it. Couldn't be blamed for either of the goals conceded.

Defenders

Chris Mepham - 6.5: A very busy 120 minutes for the defender. He was strong in the tackle, winning 4 of 6, and made a game-high 8 clearances. His passing was impressively accurate at 94%. However he got a yellow card and unfortunately blazed his penalty over the bar in the shootout which brings his rating down a bit.

Krystian Bielik - 7.0: A real captain's performance before he was cruelly forced off with an injury in extra time. He was dominant in the air, winning 4 aerial duels, and made several important clearances and interceptions. His leadership was evident and his absence was felt immediately. A composed figure at the back.

Alfie Gilchrist - 6.0: A mixed bag from the young defender. He was solid in his ground duels winning all he contested and made a couple of good tackles. However, he struggled with possession, losing it 18 times, and his passing accuracy was low at 55%. A decent learning experience for him before being substituted.

Charlie Taylor - 6.0: Not his best day. While he won most of his duels and made a few tackles, he was very loose in possession, losing the ball 25 times. He picked up a yellow card for a clumsy foul. Offered some support going forward but the final ball wasn't quite there.

Midfielders

Callum Styles - 6.5: A tireless display, covering a lot of ground over 120 minutes. Recovered the ball an impressive 12 times and wasn't afraid to get stuck in. His passing was okay, but he lost a lot of his duels. Showed great composure to slot his penalty home in the shootout.

Mikey Johnston - 6.5: Looked dangerous and created three chances for his teammates. He was always trying to make things happen, though his end product was sometimes lacking. His decision-making could have been better, and he was caught offside twice. Picked up a yellow card for a frustrated foul.

Ousmane Diakité - 7.0: A really strong engine room performance before his unfortunate injury. He won an incredible 7 duels and was 100% on his tackles. His pass accuracy was high and he was a disruptive force in midfield. A big loss for the team when he went off.

Isaac Jude Price - 7.5: An excellent all-around midfield performance across the full 120 minutes. He was combative, winning 7 of 10 duels, and also showed his quality on the ball creating a chance and completing two dribbles. Capped his display with a coolly taken penalty in the shootout.

Forwards

Josh Maja - 7.5: The very definition of a poacher. He was in the right place at the right time to stab home the crucial equalizer from a corner. Didn't have a massive impact on the game otherwise, but his goal was pivotal and changed the momentum of the tie. Job done.

Daryl Dike - 6.0: A physical presence up top, winning 5 duels and drawing two fouls. He battled hard but lacked a real goal threat, with his only shot going off target. His hold-up play was decent but he was substituted on the hour mark as West Brom sought a different approach.

George Campbell - 6.5: Slotted into the backline and did his job without any fuss.

Harry Whitwell - N/A: Came on but was unfortunately injured shortly after and had to be replaced.

Jed Wallace - 8.0: A game-changing substitute. Scored what looked to be the winner in extra time with a great finish on the counter. Was a constant threat and then dispatched his penalty. Fantastic impact.

Nathaniel Phillips - 6.5: Replaced the injured Bielik and helped see out a difficult period in extra time.

Karlan Grant - 7.0: Looked lively after coming on and scored the winning penalty in the shootout. A hero on the day.

Goalkeeper

Andy Fisher - 5.0: A very disappointing performance from our perspective. He was only credited with one save all game despite facing several shots on target. He didn't command his box well and his distribution was poor, with only a 14% success rate on long balls. A day to forget for the keeper.

Defenders

Ben Cabango - 7.0: The captain led by example from the back. He was a colossal presence, making 8 clearances and attempting over 100 passes. He struggled a little in his aerial duels but was otherwise very solid. Scored his penalty with authority.

Josh Tymon - 7.5: An excellent, energetic performance down the left flank for the full 120 minutes. He created three big chances and was a constant outlet for his team. Defensively solid too, winning his tackles and recovering the ball 11 times. A top display.

Kaelan Casey - 5.5: A difficult evening for the defender. He missed a huge chance early in the second half and struggled in his duels, winning only 4 of 9. He was replaced after an hour. Looked a little off the pace.

Ethan Galbraith - 7.0: Played out of position in defence but had a very good game. He was tidy on the ball and strong in the tackle, winning three. He also got forward to have five shots, showing his versatility. Scored his penalty in the shootout.

Midfielders

Marko Stamenić - 7.0: A really tidy display in the heart of midfield. His pass accuracy was a stunning 98% and he won all three of his tackles. He kept things simple and effective, breaking up play before being substituted. Picked up a booking for his troubles.

Melker Widell - 8.0: A fantastic creative performance. He provided a brilliant assist for the opening goal and created another big chance. He was always looking to unlock the defence. From our view, he was the spark for Swansea's attack for much of the game.

Ji-sung Eom - 8.5: Our man of the match. An absolutely brilliant display from the midfielder. He scored a wonderful goal to open the scoring and was a constant menace with three shots on target and two key passes. His energy and quality were top-notch. Deserved to be on the winning side.

Gonçalo Franco - 6.0: A quiet outing for the midfielder. He was neat in possession but struggled to make an impact on the game, losing most of his duels and being dribbled past three times. Substituted after 61 minutes.

Ronald - 6.5: Looked dangerous and created two chances for his teammates. He missed a big chance himself but was always a willing runner and tried to make things happen. His final product was just a little inconsistent before he was subbed off in extra time.

Forwards

Zan Vipotnik - 5.5: It was a frustrating night for the striker. He had three shots but failed to hit the target with any of them, including one big chance missed. He worked hard but never really looked like scoring. A tough outing.

Joel Ward - 6.0: Added some experience but missed a decent headed chance.

Jay Fulton - 6.5: Kept things ticking over in midfield and scored his penalty.

Malick Yalcouyé - 6.0: Was unlucky to hit the crossbar but then missed his penalty in the shootout.

Zeidane Inoussa - 7.5: Made a great impact, scoring the vital equalizer in extra time and converting his penalty. Looked very lively.

Bobby Wales - 5.0: Had his penalty saved in a crucial moment of the shootout.

Joshua Key - 7.0: Came on and provided the assist for the extra-time equalizer. Great contribution.

Manager

V. Emanuel Soares Matos - 6.5: Set his team up to play some attractive football, and they created plenty of chances. His substitutions largely made a positive impact, especially Inoussa. However, his side couldn't hold on to leads and ultimately fell short in the lottery of a shootout.
