West Ham Vs Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

What started as another seemingly dull Gameweek 4 Premier League fixture turned into an interesting watch for Tottenham Hotspur fans after halftime, let's see how.. Spurs dominated early, with West Ham absorbing all the pressure put upon by the visitors and were eyeing counter-attacks. Just before halftime, African player Pape Matar Sarr, fresh from a quite decent African Qualifiers campaign, broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal. The game shifted dramatically when West Ham’s Soucek received a red card, which opened the floodgates as Tottenham netted two more goals in just six minutes. West Ham’s manager made quick substitutions to limit the damage, which worked, as the hosts held on to the scoreline at 3-0 till full-time.

West Ham Player Ratings vs Tottenham Hotspur

Here are West Ham Player Ratings vs Tottenham Hotspur

Goalkeeper

Mads Hermansen - 5.0: A truly thankless task for the keeper. He conceded three goals, but was left completely exposed by his defence after the red card. Made a couple of decent saves inside the box. But he stood little chance against the relentless Spurs attack. What stood out to us was how his distribution suffered under pressure, completing only 42% of his passes.

Defenders

Kyle Walker-Peters - 5.5: One of the better performers in a very bad backline. He was tidy in possession with 90% pass accuracy and won a majority of his duels. Tried to offer an outlet but was pinned back for most of the second half. A solid, if unspectacular, effort in a losing cause.

Maximilian Kilman - 4.5: A torrid afternoon for the centre-back. While he made eight clearances, he was consistently pulled out of position and lost five of his nine duels. He just seemed a step behind the Spurs attackers all game. Missed a big chance to score too, which summed up his day.

El Hadji Malick Diouf - 4.5: The young defender had a difficult time. He looked a bit raw and was guilty of losing possession cheaply. Had one shot on target saved, but defensively he struggled against the movement and pace of the opposition. A tough learning experience.

Konstantinos Mavropanos - 5.0: Probably the best of a bad bunch at the back. He was a monster in the air, winning five of his six aerial duels, and made seven clearances. Despite his efforts, the defence crumbled around him. He can't be held solely responsible for the collapse.

Midfielders

Crysencio Summerville - 4.0: We barely noticed he was playing. He was completely anonymous before being substituted just after the hour mark. He lost the ball, didn't create anything, and offered very little. A performance to forget.

James Ward-Prowse - 5.5: As ever, he tried to make things happen from set-pieces, creating a big chance. His passing was neat and tidy. However, he couldn't get a grip on the midfield battle, which was completely overrun once his team went down to ten men. A frustrating outing.

Mateus Fernandes - 5.0: Showed some nice touches and created two chances in his 61 minutes. He looked composed on the ball but lacked the influence to really change the game. Faded significantly before being taken off.

Jarrod Bowen - 6.0: The captain never stopped running. He showed fight and determination when others around him dropped their heads. Had a couple of shots on target and was a general nuisance. It was a thankless task, but he was West Ham's brightest spark by a distance.

Tomáš Souček - 2.0: A disastrous, game-losing performance. His straight red card for a reckless foul in the 54th minute single-handedly destroyed any chance his team had. Until that point, he was his usual disruptive self, but his lack of discipline was unforgivable. He let his manager, teammates, and fans down completely.

Forwards

Lucas Paquetá - 4.5: What a disappointment. From a player of his calibre, we expected so much more. He was on the periphery of the game, lost possession ten times, and missed a decent chance in the first half. Rightly substituted after an ineffective display.

Manager

G. Potter - 5.0: His game plan seemed to be working in the first half. His team was competitive and organized. But he can't legislate for a moment of individual stupidity like Souček's red card. His side's subsequent collapse is a concern, though. They offered no resistance after going down to ten.

Goalkeeper

Guglielmo Vicario - 7.5: A very strong performance. He made four saves, all from inside the box, and commanded his area well to earn a clean sheet. His distribution was solid, and he was a calm presence throughout. Didn't have much to do in the second half but was alert when called upon earlier.

Defenders

Cristian Romero - 8.0: A true captain's display. He was imperious at the back, winning his duels and passing with an impressive 92% accuracy. He even bagged an assist and created a big chance. A complete performance from the Argentine who led by example.

Pedro Porro - 7.5: An excellent attacking performance from the fullback. He was a constant threat down the right, creating two chances and delivering some dangerous crosses. Defensively, he was also sound, winning most of his tackles. A very well-rounded display.

Djed Spence - 6.0: A mixed performance. He was a willing runner down the left but was often wasteful in possession and earned a needless yellow card. His attacking intent was there, but the final product was lacking. An average day at the office.

Micky van de Ven - 8.0: Scored a goal to cap off a fantastic performance. His recovery pace was crucial on a couple of occasions, and he was comfortable on the ball. He did lose a few duels, but his goal and overall defensive stability were key to the victory.

Midfielders

João Palhinha - 8.0: A midfield colossus. He was absolutely everywhere, breaking up play, winning tackles, and dictating the tempo. He won 10 of his 14 duels, a testament to his dominance. The fact Souček got sent off for fouling him shows just how much of a problem he was for West Ham.

Lucas Bergvall - 9.0: Our man of the match. A stunning performance from the midfielder, who ran the show. He scored a goal and provided an assist, but his overall game was what impressed us most. He was creative, energetic, and looked a class above. A truly special talent on full display.

Pape Matar Sarr - 8.5: His goal changed the game. A perfectly timed header right after the break set Spurs on their way. Beyond the goal, he was disciplined, energetic, and his link-up play was excellent. A fantastic, all-action midfield performance.

Forwards

Xavi Simons - 7.5: Provided the assist for Bergvall's goal and was a creative spark for his team. His movement and quick feet caused problems for the West Ham defence all afternoon. Lost the ball a bit too often for our liking, but his positive contribution was undeniable.

Mathys Tel - 6.5: A frustrating day for the forward. He worked tirelessly to press the defence but offered little in terms of goal threat. Caught offside a couple of times and just couldn't get into the game. A quiet outing.

Mohammed Kudus - 6.0: A very strange performance. He attempted six dribbles and ten crosses, showing his intent, but he lost possession a staggering 22 times. From our perspective, his decision-making was poor and he often tried to do too much. A frustrating player to watch on the day.

Manager

T. Frank - 8.0: A perfect away day for the manager. His side was patient in a difficult first half and then utterly ruthless in the second. He'll be delighted with the clean sheet and the way his team dismantled West Ham after the red card. Masterful game management.
