Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, commonly known as only Flamengo, is one of the most famous clubs in Brazil and all of South America. The renowned Latin American football club was founded in 1895 in the capital of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, in the region of Gavea. Until 1911, Flamengo was only a rowing club, but a decision taken by the management took them to the map of football after they played their first football game in 1912, marking a rich journey of legacy, passion, and glory in the game. The Red and Black started their football journey as the pride of the working-class community. Over the years, Flamengo established itself as the heartbeat of the country, lifting numerous Brazilian Premier League titles and International trophies.
Since its inception, the Scarlet and Black has created some of the greatest rivalries in football, especially with Fluminense in the “Fla-Flu” derby. The legendary Brazilian Zico first led Flamengo to their first golden age in the 1980s, winning the Intercontinental Cup and the Copa Libertadores. Flamengo recently lifted the Copa Libertadores title in 2019 and 2022 and is shining bright in domestic competitions. It is the symbol of excellence, resilience, pride, and rich football of Brazil. The Brazilian football club is set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which is being held in the USA in a revamped structure.
