Le Havre remains one of the oldest football clubs in France. Founded in 1884 by British residents of Le Havre, Normandy, it adopted association football formally in 1894. Likewise, in 1899, HAC became the first club outside Paris to win the French football championship, and that triumph was repeated in 1900. Likewise, in recent years, Le Havre reinvigorated its status as one of the best clubs in France.
