Being a rising club in the English soccer scene, Wrexham has one of the most loyal fanbases in the world. With their fans sticking to their side over the years facing all the highs and lows, the club is always appreciative of their fans and always tries to provide the best hospitality for them. The fans have several chants which are chanted throughout Wrexham’s matches. One of their premiere anthem is the ‘Wrexham is the Name’ which is sung by the fans with full passion and determination. Others also include It’s Always Sunny in Wrexham, We’re the Red Army, On our Way, We’re the Wrexham are some of the crowd chants.
Being the oldest club in Wales, Wrexham has several rivalries with different clubs in numerous divisions of soccer. They have an intense rivalry with Chester and their rivalry is known as the cross-border derby. Within only 10 miles of distance, the clubs are Welsh and English respectively which further fuels their rivalry. Having 67 wins against Chester’s 50 wins, Wrexham currently leads the derby. Their other rivals include Shrewsbury Town, Tranmere Rovers, Stockport County, and Notts County. As Wrexham currently plays in League One, they do not face these local clubs as they used to.
In League One, they have a rivalry with Birmingham City and it is called the Hollywood Derby. While Wrexham is co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Birmingham City is owned by retired American football quarterback Tom Brady.
Given its impressive history and recent successes, Wrexham FC have seen a ray of hope after dull patch in the 21st century. Their earlier successes however have made the club one of the most decorated clubs in Welsh soccer history.
