Apex Legends Mobile Return Is In The Cards as Search for New VP Continues Since December

After several months of speculation and rumours, some of the decisions from Respawn finally point to Apex Legends Mobile returning soon for the community. The questions on the Apex Mobile Legends comeback have taken social media by storm since last September.

Following the game's initial launch on mobile in 2022, players enjoyed the game for three months. Soon after, EA and Respawn mutually concluded to shut down the game. While the Apex Legends Mobile return didn't seem possible for a long while, recent news says otherwise.

Why is Apex Legends Mobile Return Still Likely?

Apex Legends Mobile had a limited release in February 2022. Following that, the game was released globally in March 2022. Speaking of the reactions from the community about the game post its launch, both EA and Respawn mentioned that the launch met with positivity.

The primary reason behind the game's shutdown was the fact that it did not meet the quality standard of Respawn. Since the game's shutdown, the community had hoped for Apex Legends Mobile return.

After years, @codmINTEL took it to their official X to share the news of a possible Apex Legends Mobile return with the community. The post was made on 11th January 2026, around 10:50 PM (IST).

Is Respawn Entertainment Still Hiring for a Vice President for Mobile Shooters?

It seems Respawn Entertainment is still hiring a VP, Head of Mobile Shooters. The job was posted two weeks ago. Among all the key responsibilities of the role, the person hired will work on EA's mobile shooter portfolio that includes Apex Legends and Star Wars. Many believe that the hiring mainly focuses on the return of Apex Legends Mobile.

Given how popular Apex Legends Mobile was in just three months and the community's long wait, everyone is excited since they received the possible news of the game's comeback. One must not forget, however, that the job had already been once posted early December in 2025, but nothing ultimately came to fruition, at least on paper.

Here's a brief look at how the Apex Legends Mobile timeline has been all over the place since the game's release in May 2022.

• May 17, 2022: Apex Legends Mobile saw a soft launch, officially releasing on both iOS and Android globally.
• Late 2022: The game was an instant hit as it saw several downloads, with influencers discussing the game's pros and cons on social media.
• Early 2023: The hype began to die down as content cadence and updates led to the game failing to meet expectations long-term.
• January 31, 2023: Respawn Entertainment finally announced that Apex Legends Mobile would be discontinued as they disabled several in-game features, including in-app purchases.
• May 1, 2023: The game was eventually removed from all platforms.

Apex Legends Mobile Return: Work in progress?

In addition to the position of VP for Mobile Games division, Respwan Entertainment is also hiring for a senior product manager for Apex Legends, a Product Manager for Apex Legends, and a Lead Foundations Engineer for Apex Legends.

Given the primary reason behind Apex Legends Mobile shutdown was quality, it seems both EA and Respawn are working closely on the game to meet the standards before it can finally be introduced to the community once again.

While all this points to a soon Apex Legends Mobile return, as of now, there have yet to be any official announcements from the game regarding its comeback.
