The Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced settings can be intimidating for players, especially those new to the series. Ubisoft's latest Anvil engine is fairly optimized, but it can be taxing when using the wrong settings. Moreover, recent AC Black Blag Resynced upscaling bugs have also affected the overall visuals of the latest entry into the Assassin's Creed franchise. That said, here's a brief look at the AC Black Flag Resynced best settings for a proper balance between graphics and performance.

These Upscaling Bugs Are Reducing Your Game's Overall Visual Fidelity

Being a new release, the game is also suffering from several issues. WE recently covered them in detail in a separate article. You can check out all of these AC Black Flag Resynced Bugs and issues on our official website.

AC Black Flag Resynced settings have two major bugs that are making the graphics blurry. Popular YouTube channel Hardware Unboxed provided a detailed analysis of what's happening.

  • Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was released with the latest Nvidia upscaling tech, DLSS 4.5.
  • When using the native DLAA or DLSS Quality settings, the game uses an outdated preset E for scaling.
  • The latest preset M is only available for the DLSS Performance mode.
  • To fix it, players must manually select the latest model in the Nvidia app.

Important note: The first bug is limited to Nvidia GPUs only. Also, changing this setting will reduce the game's performance but make the visuals way sharper and crisp than before.

AC Black Flag Resynced Upscaling Bug 2

The second problem affects all modern upscalers, including XeSS, FSR, and DLSS. If you use any of these in the Balanced or Performance mode, the game will output the wrong resolution scale. It will be visible to you in the greyed-out numbers below the upscaling mode. The Quality mode uses 100% resolution, whereas it drops to 80% in Balanced Mode and 70% in Performance Mode. Here's how to fix it:

  • The first step requires you to set the Upscaling Quality to Custom.
  • Next, set the Resolution Scale to 100%.
  • Now, for Dynamic Resolution, set it to 44% in Quality Mode, 34% in Balanced Mode, and 25% in Performance Mode.

Important note: Using the custom Upscaler Quality mode, the game will use Preset E by default; you can change it in the Nvidia app as mentioned above.

Before heading into the AC Black Flag Resynced optimized settings charts, you may want to check the game's official system requirements.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Settings for GPUs With 8GB or Less VRAM

Players who do not like messing around with the in-game video settings can select the medium preset if they are VRAM-limited. If you have more than 8GB VRAM, you can consider the higher presets.

In my opinion, I feel the AC Black Flag Resynced optimized settings will require you to turn off Ray Tracing on GPUs with less than VRAM. Even with these settings turned off, the 18th-century Mediterranean looks phenomenal. Moreover, turning RT off entirely will provide an FPS boost anywhere from 25% to 35%.

As for the rest of the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced settings, here's what we recommend for 6GB or 8GB VRAM:

SettingValue
Raytracing ModeOff
Raytracing Quality-
BVH Quality-
Character QualityMedium
Hair StrandsAll Characters Medium
Post EffectsHigh
Particles QualityHigh
Water QualityHigh
Texture Resolution QualityLow
Loading DistanceHigh
Geometry QualityMedium
MicropolygonLow
Screen Space EffectsHigh
Light Source QualityLow
Shadow QualityMedium
Cloud QualityLow
Fog QualityLow
Terrain QualityHigh

Terrain Texture QualityMedium

Note: The texture sharpness will likely be blurrier with these settings, but you will not run into VRAM-related issues. If you have more VRAM to spare, you can shift the texture settings to Medium or even High.

Overall, the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced settings are comparatively more optimized than those of the previous title, AC Shadows. As a result, the game broke its all-time AC player count record with over 100k concurrent players on Steam.
