KRAFTON Finally Announces BGMI Lite After Years of Fan Demand

Amidst the action and chaos of PMWC day 3, KRAFTON announced BGMI Lite!. This announcement came following Rick Li's (PUBG Mobile producer) announcement of a lighter version of PUBGM, PUBG Mobile LIGHT.

Ever since Tencent Games discontinued PUBG Mobile Lite, players have been waiting for its return. With BGMI's introduction, it only felt like a matter of time till we got a lighter version of the game, and now BGMI Lite return is official.

BGMI Lite Announced: When Will Pre-Registration Begin?

Speaking of PUBG Mobile LIGHT, players can pre-register for the same starting August 25, 2026. However, for the Indian version, we don't have a BGMI Lite pre registration date yet. @battlegroundsmobilein_official took to their official Instagram to share the BGMI Lite announcement with the community.

The BGMI Lite teaser was a short reel that states that the wait is finally over and BGMI Lite is coming soon. The post came as a collaborative reel with the game's new page @bgmi_lite.official. As we do not have a BGMI Lite release date yet, expect all the major news and announcements to be shared via the dedicated BGMI Lite social handle.

BGMI Lite Brings a Lighter Version While Retaining the Core Experience

As per Rick Li, when it comes to PUBG LIGHT, the developers are targeting a year-end release. However, as of now, no updates on the BGMI Lite release date and features have been shared. Before BGMI, the Indian Gaming Community had only PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite as playable versions.

Similar to PUBG Lite, we can expect BGMI Lite to be specifically designed for low-end devices. While we might expect the player count in main maps to be 50 instead of 100, nothing is confirmed yet. Given that PUBG Lite was optimised to run smoothly on older or budget devices, it quickly became one of the most popular battle royale games in India.

However, unlike PUBG Mobile, the Lite version of the game had different maps, along with different in-game elements. Currently, it's unclear whether BGMI Lite will feature Golden Woods, Varenga, and other maps from PUBG Lite.
