This year, PMGC is going to witness some major changes that will completely shake the strategy of the participating teams and the viewing experience of the fans. This year, Thailand is going to host the event for the first time in its history.
PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2025 format
PUBG Mobile Global Championship will see a new format. Unlike the previous editions, which had a total of 48 teams, the latest iteration of the event shall feature only 38 teams (Qualified) and an invited team of the host nation. The teams will battle for a prize pool of $3 million. The league is going to be divided into three different stages: Gauntlet, Group Stage and Last Chance. The details of each of the stages are mentioned below.
Gauntlet Stage
- This stage will be played over three days.
- This stage will host 16 regional qualifier teams.
- Only the Top six teams will automatically qualify for the Grand Finals.
- The remaining ten teams shall get another chance to qualify by playing the next round.
Group Stage
- This stage will host 32 teams ( 22 regional teams + 10 teams from last stage).
- This stage will consist of two groups, housing 16 teams each.
- The top four teams from each group will advance to the Grand Finals.
- 5th-12th placed teams will get another shot at qualification by playing the next round.
Last Chance
- This stage will host 16 teams.
- The team that finishes in the top spot shall qualify for the grand finals.
Grand Finals
- This stage will host 16 teams.
- One of the teams will be invited from the host country.
- This stage will be played over three days.
PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2025 new Map
PUBG Mobile Global Championship will also see the introduction of a new map in the competitive circuit. The administration has decided to replace the dense forest-themed map, Sanhok, with the newly released map Rondo. The map Rondo made its way into the game on December 23rd, 2023. Unlike Sanhok, which is a lot smaller and is famous for quick fights, Rondo is a lot bigger, having dimensions that span over 8x8 km. It has a perfect blend of traditional settings and modern cities that is expected to produce some jaw-dropping fights amongst the best teams in the world.
