Supercell Announces Clash of Clans July Balance Update Bringing Big Meta Shifts

4 min
Clash of Clans Balance Changes July 2026

Summary

  • The Clash of Clans Balance Changes July 2026 bring major adjustments to shake up the Town Hall 18 meta.
  • High-performing air strategies like the Dragon Duke and Dragon Riders are receiving much-needed nerfs.
  • Underperforming units like the Electro Dragon and Meteor Golems are getting substantial buffs to restore diversity.

Supercell has announced a new round of balance changes coming later this month, aimed at shaking up the current attacking trends. The Clash of Clans Balance Changes July 2026 specifically targets the TH 18 meta, aiming to reduce the dominance of air attack strategies and revive underused ground troops.

According to the developers, the Clash of Clans New Hero Dragon Duke has been an extreme outlier. The latest Hero holds a high usage rate in the Legend 1 league, and the upcoming CoC Balance Changes aim to trim those numbers down to bring variation in the in-game meta.

Clash of Clans Balance Changes July 2026: Air Attacks Are Getting a Much-Needed Nerf

The primary focus of this update is to give players better options against oppressive air strategies. The biggest changes in this update target the following units:

  • Dragon Duke: The Hero's damage reduction against traps is lowered from 40% down to 20%. Attackers need to be much more precise, as turning Dragon Duke invisible will no longer protect it as effectively from the hidden traps.
  • Dragon Rider: This powerhouse troop loses 100 hit points and 20 damage per second (DPS) across all levels. While it is a minor percentage change, it aims to reduce its overwhelming synergy when paired with the Dragon Duke.
  • Logger Guardian: This defense sees a dual adjustment. Its post-hit log range has been decreased by two tiles (from 7 to 5, and 8 to 6) to stop it from accidentally wiping out healers behind standard ground pushes. However, its initial knockback force has been increased from 1 to 1.5 tiles to push back advancing air troops more effectively.

Older Ground Strategies Could See a Return Due to the Buffs From These CoC Balance Changes July 2026

Supercell admitted that previous balance sweeps overcooked the nerfs to certain ground strategies, causing them to fall entirely out of favor. To correct this, the Clash of Clans Balance Changes introduce significant safety nets for struggling troops.

  • Meteor Golem and Meteormites: The team is bringing back past adjustments by giving Meteor Golems a massive 10% hit point increase across levels 1, 2, and 3, alongside a minor DPS buff. The small Meteorites also receive a matching 10% health increase and 5% DPS bump, ensuring ground smash attacks become viable once more.
  • Electro Dragon: This air troop receives a health and damage boost specifically for Town Hall 17 and above levels to help players.
  • Druid: To encourage more diverse, tactical deployment, the Druid's healing per second is getting an increase, seeing its largest jump nearly 10% at Town Hall 18.

Supercell Will Be Keeping an Eye on a Few Troops for Future Balance Changes

Supercell highlighted that they are actively monitoring the Totem Spell, Sneezy, Ruin Witch, Angry Spell, and Skywagon for future balance. For now, they are leaving them untouched to see how the meta reacts to the new changes.

The developers are temporarily reverting the Flame Blower and Rocket Backpack priority mechanic back to its original state. This is due to an interaction bug that can only be fixed via a mandatory app store update.
